Bella walked toward Mason's room in the medical section of the base. It's been two weeks since the rescue attack and Mason had not gained back his consciousness yet. His body was recovering fast. All of the bruises had vanished and all of the minor cuts had already healed. But the level of his consciousness was still the same. And that was killing Bella slowly.

Bella was tired to the core. She would come to the base on days, sitting by Mason's side, and would go home to her kids at night. The twins had not talked at all since the attack at the safe house and would only sit in a corner and play silently together and that was making her extremely worried for their health.

To make the matters worse for her, she couldn't sleep at night. She was too tired and her body was begging for proper sleeping but her racing mind wouldn't let her sleep for more than two or three hours before the horrible thoughts attack her once again to make her restless. She also had to take care of her babies when they would wake up from a nightmare, screaming and crying in the middle of the night.

Everyone was trying their best to help her and take care of the twins in turns, but she was so close to falling sick herself. The absence of Mason's strong presence and support in her life plus constant worry for him and her twins was bringing her to her knees.

She sighed and dropped her head, bracing herself for the torture of seeing Mason on the bed for a few hours before going home. She turned to a corner and suddenly bumped into someone.

"God! I'm sorry!" she gasped and her hands shot forward to steady the person she had collided with. She looked up and smiled slightly. "Alison."

"Bell!" exclaimed Alison happily and hugged her sister tightly. "How are you?"

"Trying to be fine." sighed Bella and then pulled away keeping Alison at arm's length and frowned. "What are you doing here? "

"Alex had some business here." answered Alison and bit her lips nervously. "I thought to come and visit you and Mason. How is he?"

"Same." exhaled Bella loudly and forced a smile. "No progress."

"Bell, I'm sorry." said Alison sadly and put a hand on her sister's shoulder. "It's killing me to see you broken like this. You look like shit."

She said and eyed Bella's pale face. The dark bags under her eyes had become worse from two days ago when she had last seen her.

Bella took a shaky breath and patted Alison's shoulder. "Don't worry about me. I will be fine." she said. "How are things at home between you and Alex? I'm sorry that your wedding is postponed."

Alison sighed and dropped her head. "If Alex was protective before, he had become ten times worse." she explained. "He has become paranoid. I can't leave the house without at least ten guards accompanying me. I woke up in the middle of the night and see him awake, just staring at me as if I'm going to vanish any second. He keeps blaming himself even though it was not his fault. I'm worried for him."

Bella smiled softly at her sister's concerned eyes. "That's just because he loves you so much." she said. Her smile dropped and she looked down. "That event has shaken up all of us. It will take time for us to get over our fears."

She then looked up and put a hand on Alison's shoulder forcing another smile. "He will be fine soon." she said reassuringly. "Alex is a tough man. He doesn't want to show his fears. But he is afraid of losing you. And the fact that he almost lost you is not helping at all. Just try to reassure him that everything is alright and be gentle with him. He will get over it soon."

Alison smiled slightly and nodded her head. She opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by Alex shouting her name. His voice laced with worry boomed in the corridor and the two girls turned to where his voice had come from and saw him sigh in relief when his eyes fell on Alison.
