A light in the darkness

Chapter 39

15 minutes before the explosion...

Ben and a group of his men cleared a room of the men from Gomez's side who they have trapped inside of the slightly large room. He had separated from Mason with a few of the men they had brought so they will be able to cover more area in the east wing of the second floor and find Maria faster.

"All dead." announced one of Ben's men as they looked at the dead bodies on the ground.

"Let's check the other rooms." said Ben and turned on his heels only to hear a few gunshots. He was thrown back and cried in pain as a bullet hit him in the shoulder. He fell on his back and his gun was thrown a meter away from him. 

He tried to move fast and take a cover or at least do something, but a voice stopped him before he can sit up.

"Move a muscle and you will be dead." 

Ben looked at the doorway and saw Raul Diaz standing there with two men by his side, supporting a murderous look and aiming a gun toward him. Ben's nostrils flared as he looked at his dead men and anger blazed in his eyes as he glared at Raul while holding his injured shoulder.

"Go and protect the Don." ordered Raul to his men without taking his eyes off of Ben. "I will join you when I'm done here. I have an unfinished business with this fucker."

The two men soon disappeared from the room and Raul closed the door with his feet while Ben stood up. 

"Fancy to meet you again, Williams." smirked Raul. "How is your daddy? I shot him quite bad."

Ben's body was trembling from hot fury as he stared at Raul, listening to him. His fists clenched tightly to the point of drawing blood and all he wanted at that moment was to strangle Raul to death and see life leaving his eyes slowly and painfully. The pain in his shoulder was long forgotten.

"You will pay for what you did." seethed Ben.

"You won't live that much to see the day, boy." said Raul and his face become serious. "You dared to touch what was and is mine. You and Maria were idiots to think you can be together. Do you think that I will bear the humiliation of seeing you two together? That slut is mine and I will make sure to show her hell on earth so soon."

"Touch a strand of hair on her head and I will come back from death only to take you to hell with me." snarled Ben.

"Oh, so you love her." laughed Raul while looking at Ben amused, enjoying his play. He smirked and took a step closer to Ben. "So the little boy loves the slut. I should admit she is quite a catch. You don't know how much it was fantastic to take her virginity, even though she was crying and begging me to stop like the baby she is."

"You motherfucker!" roared Ben and jumped forward to hit Raul, completely blind by rage. But he was stopped in his tracks by yet another shot to his arm, this time a little away from the first one.

Raul raised an eyebrow and stared at Ben with a look of boredom in his eyes. "Is this all you've got, Williams?" he asked as he watched Ben groaning in pain. "I must admit I expected more from you."

Ben groaned in pain and closed his eyes tightly. The pain was bad but in reality, he was buying himself time. His mind was racing with different scenarios of how to defeat the two-meter giant in front of him who was having a gun and was an expert in combat. 

"Everyone, get out of the building as soon as you can," Mason's voice filled Ben's ear and his curiosity picked up. "This place will blow up in ten minutes. I repeat, evacuate the building."

Raul sighed and shook his head in disappointment. "You are so pathetic." he said. "As much as I love to see you in misery, I should go. so, Adius."

He said and raised his gun to Ben's head only to stop by his words.
