I was in my attic room drawing when a knock came upon the trap door.
"Leo the people are here, get your butt out and meet them!" Cook yelled.
I groaned but did as he said. I went through the trap door and down three levels of steps, and then I turned right and headed down the hall. I stopped at the door going into the meeting room, this room was big enough to fit all the kids in the home, this was the Meeting Hall. I stood at the edge of the crowd.
"Now I would like to introduce Ava, she will be staying here so make her feel welcome," The Headmistress said.
The Headmistress made every new kid stand on the stage and introduced them, she thought this would help with 'bonding' but all she did was embarrass them. Everyone in this home had been on that stage, and no one likes it. I looked at Ava, and nearly got a shock. She had black hair, green eyes and had a similar build to mine. She was wearing a t-shirt and jeans with boots; she had a defiant look on her face.
Cook came beside me, "What do you think?"
"Not sure yet," I replied.
He chuckled, "Well you will know soon, because she will be sleeping in your room."
"What!?" I exclaimed.
"There's not much room left in this home, some kids will be transferred to different homes. Besides it might not be so bad."
"That's what you think!"
Cooks smiled, "Come on we have work to do."
We went to the attic room and started to move my stuff to the left (at least I still had the window) I don't know how we did it yet we managed to get a bed through the trap door. And no, I did not use my abilities. Cook and I stood there admiring our handiwork.
"You know what," I said.
"What?" He asked.
"I think this is the Headmistress's way of getting me back!"
Cook laughed, "I think you may be right."
We both cracked up.
"I'm coming to bring Ava here."
And with that Cook left, my mood turned sour. I went to my desk and continued my drawing of the dragon; I was just finished when Cook and the new girl-Ava-entered the room. I stayed at my desk.
"So this is where you will be sleeping," Cook said. "And this here is Leo."
I didn't turn around.
"Now that's not how you treat your new roommate."
I remained silent.
Cook sighed. "I'll get your stuff Ava," and he said to me, "I expect you to be on your best behaviour Leo."
He exited the room and an awkward silence followed.
"So... your my roommate?" Ava said, attempting to start a conversation.
I grunted.
"Hey! I'm talking here!"
And with that she grabbed my chair and twisted it around to face her. Ava gasped and took a step back. Two green eyes looked at each other.
I stood up; we were both the same height.
"How...," She began.
We both continued to stare at each other.
"Don't even ask," I said.
Ava managed to regain her composure, "Let's restart."
I nodded.
