I managed to keep my voice calm, tho I didn’t know how, “Like what?”

“You’re going to think it’s stupid,” Ava said quietly.

“Look at me,” I said.

She did.

“Have I laughed at you yet?”

Ava shook her head.

“Then what have you got to worry about?”

She smiled and said, “I can read people’s minds”

I nodded calmly.

“I have visions as well, when a person touches something that person kind of leaves an imprint and I can sense that, it’s like I become that person the vision shows me”

As soon as she said those words she didn’t stop, she must have been desperate to tell someone this; I know I would have.

“Sometimes I get visions of the future, and when I concentrate I can see a person’s past, but I don’t do cards and that’s all”

I remained silent at this, processing the information.

“You think I’m crazy don’t you?” Ava said.

I didn’t answer, so she was like me! I smiled thinking about the loads of trouble we could cause.

Ava must have thought I was laughing at her because she glared at me and said, “I knew it! I shouldn’t have told you!”

I wiped the smile off my face, “I don’t think you’re crazy, besides if you can read minds then you should have known that”

I raised my eyebrows.

“I can’t read yours tho,” She replied.

I was surprised at that but it was kind of a relief, you wouldn’t want anyone reading your mind.

“Well I have nothing against that,” I said smiling at her. “And now it’s my turn”

Ava raised her eyebrows.

“Oh and what can you do?” Her voice thick with sarcasm.

My drawing book suddenly lifted itself into the air and flew behind Ava, it stopped there hovering.

“Well Mr Hotshot?”

My smile got bigger, “Look behind you”

A frown came across her but she did as asked, and saw an art book just inches from her face.  Ava’s eyes went wide, I started to laugh.

“Am I a hotshot now?” I asked her, my smile bigger.

“W-what? H-how are you d-doing this?” She stammered.

“Because you are not the only one who has a gift”

The book floated to me and landed in my hand.

“I can also feel another’s emotions, when a person touches something they leave behind what you call an imprint, and I can sense that persons emotions and their intent from that object. I can tell where a person has been in the room due to their energy, and if I concentrate very hard I can sense people’s emotions in a room they left; tho I prefer not to do that”

I looked at her calmly.

“That is so cool!” Ava exclaimed.

“I know right? Way better than yours,” I teased.

“Is that why you didn’t want me to touch your book when we first met?” She asked.

“At that time I didn’t know, but my instincts told me not to shake your hand and I followed that”

“You followed your instincts?” She said looking at me like I was crazy.

I looked directly into her eyes and said with a serious tone, “I always trust my instincts they have never failed me, it’s one of the first things you learn on the streets”

Silence filled the room; I continued staring at her not backing down.

“Sorry,” She whispered not looking at me. “I didn’t know you took it seriously”

“It’s okay,” I said, and added. “It’s only the smart ones that learn that anyway”

A chuckle came from her. “We should get ready now anyway”

We both got dressed and went down into the kitchen. All day I worked with breaks of course, Ava helped a bit, we had a water fight washing the Headmistress’s car. But deep down a feeling never left, all day it stayed, I tried to ignore it but it kept staying at the back of my mind. At the end of the day I had dinner; after that I went for a shower and strait to bed. But the feeling kept on nagging at me, begging to be known. As I went to sleep I finely placed it.

It was a feeling, a feeling of dread.
