With a push from Ava I landed on the bed, the springs creaked under my weight. She sat down next to me; I looked at her and noticed little bags under her eyes.

“Hey are you okay?” I asked her, feeling something was wrong.

Ava looked at me and her earlier humour was gone, “Why do we have to put up with this?”

I shrugged, “How the hell am I meant to know that?”

Ava laughed quietly at this, “He’s a dickhead that’s what!”

I smiled and got up; I put my bag on my bed and started to get my clothes out. I grabbed them and started to put them away, Ava watching me. Once I was done I sighed and looked at her.

“So what do we do now in this awesome home?” I joked.

She rolled her eyes and got up, “Cook wants help in the kitchen.”

“Lead the way,” I mock saluted her.

Ava grinned and pulled the trap door open, and we both headed to the kitchen.

“Since I couldn’t get any sleep from the old guy near me, I decided to use the Air Horn on him, to cut a story short I no longer had to have another roommate,” I finished.

Cook and Ava erupted into laughter, Cooks being the loudest.

“Oh my goodness, that doesn’t surprise me,” He laughed wiping a tear from his eye.

“Of course you would do that,” Ava rolled her eyes.

We were in the kitchen with me telling stories about when I was in the hospital, Ava was sitting on the bench, with me sitting next to her, and Cook leaned against the bench facing us.

“And bloody hell the food there was shit! It was like eating muck!” I complained.

“Well than that suits you,” Ava teased.

Cook chuckled.

“Are you sure it doesn’t suit you? With your pig face it wouldn’t surprise me if I saw you rolling around in mud,” I retorted smugly.

“Whatever,” She mumbled.

“Anyway,” Cook said with a twinkle in his eye. “I have to leave for more supplies for the fridge; with more people here I have to make two trips a week.”

Cook than walked out the room leaving Ava and I alone. I jumped off the bench and grabbed a glass and filled it with water, just as I was about to take a sip of water a feeling of intense rage hit me like a wave. As if in slow motion I saw the glass fall from my hand, it hit the ground; glass and water going everywhere. A wave of danger so deep hit me next; I cried out in pain when the anger hit me again, it was like to bulls hitting me from both sides. I couldn’t comprehend anything; the world was quiet as those two forces hit me in waves. Nothing made sense.

A voice cried out but it was lost as seething rage hit me again. I stumbled and managed to keep my balanced by grabbing the kitchen sink. I felt hands grab me but I couldn’t place them. I could hear someone talking, but the words were lost, what were they trying to say? The danger hit me again and I groaned in pain. And I just realised something, my shield wasn’t up.

“Leo!” A voice echoed in my head. “Listen to the sound of my voice, concentrate on that!”

And I did, I focused on the sound rather than the feelings, and slowly I managed to get my shield up, and the world came back into place. The world started spinning and I stumbled, but hands caught me before I could fall.
