Sunlight came through the window, causing me to wake up. I groaned, another day of boredom. Today was Monday but I didn't go to school due to unexplained happenings (Sometimes my mind power got out of control and caused huge amounts of damage, which I have been blamed for as 'trouble making'). Cook only knew the truth and saved me from spending the rest of my life behind bars. I closed my eyes hoping for more rest.
"GET. OUT. OF BED!" Ava yelled.
"Five more minutes," I mumbled.
I heard Ava walk towards me and she pulled the covers off my bed, I opened my eyes and stared at her.
"Morning," She said, smiling.
"Piss off," I hissed.
"I suggest you get up"
I opened one eye, "You're going to have to better then that"
She smiled.
I closed my eye and tried to go back to sleep, when a loud noise roared in my ear. I jumped out of bed in a flash, my left ear ringing.
"HOLY CRAP!" I yelled.
I stared at Ava; she was holding an air horn in her hand with a big smile on her face.
"You sneaky little snit," I said my eyes wide.
She started to laugh, "I told you to get up"
I joined in with the laughter, I didn't know why but it was funny to see another trouble maker like me. Clutching my stomach I looked at her, four pairs of green eyes stared at each other.
"Leo...," Ava began.
I knew what she was going to say, I walked over to my chair and sat on it, Ava sat on my bed; making that her seat.
"It's obvious we're related," She said, raising her eyebrows.
I nodded.
"What month are you born in?"
That was a strange question, yet I answered anyway, "June"
Ava frowned, "Year?"
"1997"
Her face changed to puzzlement, "Date?"
"The second"
"So let me get this strait, you were born in 1997 on June the second"
I nodded slowly, what was she getting at?
Ava's eyes lit up and she looked at me with excitement, "I was born on the second of June 1997"
My eyes went wide, "Wait doesn't that make us twins?"
She nodded her smile getting bigger, a knot started to form in my stomach.
"I always wondered what it would be like to have a family," I whispered.
Ava looked at me with sadness in her eyes, "Me too"
I smiled at her, "Do you have school?"
Ava returned the smile, "Nope got kicked out of too many; apparently I was too much of a 'trouble maker'"
We both laughed at this, and started to talk about the things we liked and didn't. I learnt a lot about Ava then, she told me that she wasn't into makeup or dresses like other girls. And that one guy tried to hit on her and she kicked him in between the legs, I laughed at that. We both had a lot in common, we both liked black, our favourite ice cream was chocolate, we both listened to any music as long as it wasn't slow or boring. And the best of all was that we both were trouble makers. I was feeling happy and comfortable in her presence, I never felt like this around people, even Cook; tho he listened to me he never really understood me. And with Ava I felt different, she did get me. But was she like me, with a gift?
I looked at Ava and saw that her eyes were a bit glazed, and they were staring right at me. I started to feel a bit uncomfortable.
"Ava are you alright?" I asked.
She shook her head and smiled at me, "Yeah sorry I was just thinking"
Lair, another thing I can do is tell when people are lying; it's like I have a built in lie detector.
I looked at her in the eyes, "You're lying"
The smile was wiped from her face, I could see that she was trying to say something but was thinking better of it.
"You can tell me I won't laugh," I said.
Ava sighed, "I have this gift"
My heart started to beat faster, could it be? Was she like me?
"I can do things other people can't"
