"Good morning, Hawkins High! First off, I'd like to thank each and every one of you. Without your support, we wouldn't be here. Give yourselves a big hand," Jason said to the crowd.
Students cheered and clapped, Olivia demonstrated no interest.
"And of course, of course, I have to give a special shout-out to the best and the prettiest fans of all time, the Tiger Cheer Squad, Chrissy. I love you, babe," Jason said with a soft smile looking at his girlfriend.
Olivia scoffed and rolled her eyes.
The crowd awws, "You know...I think I can speak for all of us when I say it's been a tough year for Hawkins" the crowd goes quiet.
"So much loss, and sometimes I wonder how much loss can one community take? In dark days like this, we need something to believe in. So, last night. When we were down by ten points to Christian Academy. I looked at my team," he said, pointing back at his teammates.
"I said, think of Jack, think of Melissa, think of Heather. Think about our heroic police chief, Jim Hopper. Think about every one of our friends who perished in that fire."
Olivia moved uncomfortably in her seat. Flashes from that night flooding her mind.
Every time she closes her eyes, she sees her dead father. Unconsciously she holds her side where the big long scar lays on her side.
"What did they die for? For us to lose to some crap school?"
"No," the crowd screamed.
"For us to return home with our heads hung low in defeat?"
The crowd screamed 'no' again.
"Let's win this game. Let's win this game for them!" The crowd of students clapped and cheered.
"We embarrassed those candy-asses in their own house, and now tonight, tonight, we're gonna bring home the championship trophy! Let's go!" He screamed excitedly.
The team high-five each other Olivia saw Lucas smiling with his teammates.
She's not a big fan of sports or any school activities. She's counting down the days to graduate.
"Only two more months," Olivia mumbled, walking down the bleachers.
The halls fill up with kids going to their classes. "Olivia," Robin shouted her name behind a crowd of young students. "Excuse me," Robin said, moving towards Olivia.
Robin was wearing her band uniform "looking good, Buckley," Olivia told her friend with a smile.
"I know, right," Robin said with a smile. Both girls walk down the hall. "Soo are you going to the game," Robin asks, glancing at Olivia and then back at the front.
"I don't think so. I don't like baseball," Olivia responded. "It's basketball." Olivia looked at Robin, confused.
"The game that they are playing is basketball, not baseball."
"Oh, see, I don't even know the sport, besides I think I'm working today."
After her breakup with Steve, Olivia quit her job and found a new job at the library. It was extremely boring, but she found out that she liked to read.
Most of the days, the work was slow, the people going to the library were old people or moms with their children.
"Do you not wanting to go to the game have to do anything with a particular dingus I know," Robin asked with a raised eyebrow.
Robin was not thrilled when Steve came crying to her house, telling her that Olivia had broken up with him. She talked to Olivia right after, but she had her mind made up.
