It was shocking to think that the upside down was the past that Olivia wasn't even in Hawkins at that time.

Robin closed the journal and set it on the desk.

Olivia looked around for Steve, but he wasn't in the room with them "where's Steve?"

Robin shrugged, "I don't know."

"I thought he was behind us," Eddie said, walking out the door and looking for Steve in the hall.

"He's downstairs," Eddie said from down the hall.

Steve was talking to someone. "Steve, what are you doing?" Olivia asked, walking down the stairs. He stopped screaming, "he's here, Henderson, that little shit, he's here. He's like he's in the walls or something." He gestured to the walls that had vines.

"Just listen Dustin! Dustin, can you hear me!"

Robin looked at her friend "the rabies got him," she whispered to Olivia.

Steve looked around the room, waiting for Dustin to talk again.

"All right, either this kid can't hear us, or he's being a total douchebag."

And then they heard him. They could actually hear Dustin. He wasn't in the upside down with them, but they could hear him. It sounded far away.

It seemed like Dustin couldn't hear them no matter how loud Steve yelled.

They needed to find a way to communicate with him; maybe he could help them get out.

Since yelling didn't work, they tried to communicate with the lights the same way Will had done years ago.

The four of them were in the kitchen. There was a kind of glow around the light bulbs. Robin put her hand up to it "woah," she mouthed.

The others lifted their hands, making the light brighter, the little bright sparks moving through their fingers. "It kind of tickles," Steve commented, making Olivia chuckled.

They needed to let the others know that they were alive and needed help.

Eddie sent a message in Morse code they hoped the others would see.

They waited for a few minutes until Dustin responded. The four of them went back upstairs.

Dustin took Holly's toy to be able to communicate with them in the upside down. Dustin's voice sounded far when he spoke.

They were able to let them know that they were stuck.

As Dustin put it, they couldn't get back through watergate.

Olivia had asked if Max was alright, and Lucas responded by saying that she was talking with the cops that found them in the lake.

Olivia was unsure if she wanted to know if Billy was there with them, but she asked anyway.

Her question was answered when she heard the familiar voice of her older brother.

"Olivia, you have a lot of explaining to do." She heard Billy say, sounding a bit louder than when Dustin talked. "Shit," she cursed, but her response to her brother was different.

She moved her finger around to write the word 'asshole' with a small smiley face at the end. The sparks moved around her finger.

"Bitch," he yelled.

After their bickering Dustin said he had a theory that could help them. Olivia wasn't surprised by his comment.

"We think Watergate isn't the only gate," Dustin said, sounding faded. He continued by saying, "there's a gate at every murder site."
