Harry picked his head up, his eyes landing on the doorway and letting out a small huff as it still hadn't opened. Of course he couldn't expect Declan to be this early to work, but he couldn't hide it, he was excited to see him.
And it may have been another 10 minutes and a few handfuls of glances towards the door before he saw the Irish lad come in. As soon as he stepped foot into the kitchen the curly haired man almost ran for him.
"Can I please hug you?" Harry asked, seeing Declan was already a little startled considering his reaction to him walking in.
"Uhm, sure," the blue eyed lad furrowed his eyebrows.
Harry was too quick to wrap his arms around him and tug Declan into his chest, "thank you," he said just loud enough to hear, "thank you for helping my boys."
Declan carefully hugged him back, it almost seeming like Harry was trying not to crush him but couldn't help himself, "did uhm... Did Cam say something?" he asked quietly.
The older lad shook his head as he pulled away, "we saw you were the one he called before he talked to us," Harry said softly, placing his hands on Declan's shoulders and giving him a slight squeeze, "seriously buddy, Louis and I can't thank you enough."
"How's he doing?" the dark haired lad bit his lip, hoping he was even the slightest help.
"He's okay," Harry nodded as he let out a small breath and dropped his hands, "we went to the doctor this morning and it was definitely hard for him... He didn't want us in the room when he talked to the doctor, which I get but I-" he stopped himself and bit his lip, "I'm so scared there's more he's not telling us."
Declan could see the heartbreak, could see how nervous Harry was, "if you want I can give you me parent's phone numbers," he offered softly, unable to meet his eyes for a moment, "I'm sure they had some of the same feelings you and Louis do when I went through it."
Harry looked at him gently, "can I ask you something?" he asked a bit timidly, only continuing when Declan nodded, "were there things you didn't tell your parents...? Like thoughts you had or did you tell them how bad it got?"
There was no hiding it, he was terrified of the answer, and Harry was pretty sure he already knew what it was.
"I couldn't tell them everything," Declan said just loud enough for him to hear as he shook his head, "it's easier to tell the bad stuff to a stranger than your parents."
Harry's face fell, his mind beginning to race as he thought back to the doctor and how long Cameron seemed to be in there with him. The entire time he and Louis couldn't stay still, were constantly checking the door and waiting for it to open. But the longer it didn't the more things seemed wrong.
"But we can help, I mean the kids can come to us for everything and-" Harry had to stop himself as he saw Declan shaking his head again, the Irish lad still unable to look at him.
"Harry I'm sorry, it's just-" he stopped himself, trying to find his words, "you don't want to see your parents cry because of the thoughts you have... Even telling me mum half the things that were on me mind got her sobbing and it didn't help at all, if anything made me feel worse."
The green eyed lad sunk in on himself, him essentially being a crying mess since Cameron talked to them, and even at the doctor this morning. No matter how hard he tried he couldn't help it, he hated knowing his son was in so much pain. And the thought of there being more that Cameron wasn't telling them had his heart breaking.
