Taiga had a bad night. He couldn't turn off his mind for even a second, with all that news dancing through his head. The next day, he picked up the pieces and dragged himself to school.

He avoided Kuroko's company all morning. Or rather, he tried, since the boy appeared out of nowhere when he least expected it. But Tetsuya respected the requested space, keeping his distance, without forcing contact.

Kagami felt those expressionless eyes on him all the time. He was starting to get unnerved by the surveillance. If they thought they were going to bend him like that, they were sorely mistaken! On the other hand, he was very suspicious of everything and everyone around him. Were there any other shifters in Seirin? Or were they all human? I should have asked that when I had the chance.

He also tried to concentrate and feel something different in himself, some contact with that inner animal he had heard so much about.

Nothing.

Either his beast was mute or too shy...

He had lunch alone, hiding on the roof. Although the feeling of being followed didn't leave him, he was unable to notice Kuroko nearby. He was really good at camouflaging himself! Or maybe it was some other stalker... no! No paranoia.

The second part of the day flew by. Usually Kagami felt sleepy after lunch, add to that the sleepless night and the result was obvious
Taiga leaned against his desk and went into a coma for the rest of the period. The teacher even tried to wake him up. But all of it, went in vain.

The end-of-school signal served as a pleasant alarm clock that snapped Kagami out of his heavy slumber. He gathered things quickly and hurried off to basketball practice, where the seniors were already warming up.

As Interhigh approached, the coach decided to intensify the exercises. She became more demanding. They had excellent rookies and a real chance to win!

Kagami and Kuroko were so good they would seem blessed with some supernatural power! Seirin would be the star of the competition. As soon as they were dismissed, Taiga decided to leave. He left to take a shower when he got home. He didn't like the feeling of being watched. The feeling was bad, especially when looking around and not noticing anything.

He went to the courtyard, few students were still around. He crossed the deserted courtyard and went out through the gate, but he didn't take two steps when

"Hey you!" someone called out. "Red Head!"

Taiga looked back, with a puzzled expression on his face. Only then did he notice the boy leaning against the wall. The stranger wore Seiho's uniform, wore his hair in a very short cut, practically shaved and smiled looking extremely happy.

"Are you talking to me?"Kagami pointed a finger towards himself and asked.

"Is there another Red Head around here?" the boy pushed himself off the wall and approached, circling around Taiga as he analysed him. "It's up to you".

"OE! Who are you?" Kagami asked irritated with the strangers behaviour. "My name is Tsugawa Tomoki. I play basketball for my high school," he said, stopping in front of Kagami. "What do you want with me? I'm late." Kagami said and started to walk away, but Tsugawa waved his hands, too excited.

"Wait! No! Let me explain. Seirin is a new school and the basketball team isn't that kind of thing " he said without mockery, still leaving Taiga a little offended. "But we started to hear about an incredible improvement and two legendary rookies. One of them I know is from the GOM, a Beta. But the other one made me curious...".
