Kagami was bewildered. Ever since he'd known that shifter world, he'd been warned about the possibility of a group approaching and trying to force him into something. But until then, it was such an absurd theory that he didn't think it would actually happen. If he'd been bothered by the near-obsessive surveillance schemed by Akashi, he'd thought it exaggerated that they worried about protecting him to such an extent.
So many absurd facts added up that he couldn't think of the worst. He'd understood that shifters didn't associate with humans. And one of them had knocked on his door. With a gun.
The human had hurt Daiki, the boy his age, his companion, right in front of him. He couldn't do anything to stop it. The same boy who had seemed willing to face a gun without thinking about the consequences of his act.
What if Kagami hadn't managed to calm the Alpha's instinct? Shifters had superior qualities to humans, but they weren't immortal! What if... No. He couldn't think about it.
Eventually, they discovered that the invader was not alone. Another human was waiting for him in a van, equally armed. They were placed in the back and locked. Seconds later, the vehicle pulled away.
For the first few minutes they were quiet, trying to hear something. But the two men were smart, keeping silent knowing that any word they uttered would be heard thanks to their supernatural senses.
After a brief analysis of the dimly lit place, Taiga went to sit next to the Alpha. There wasn't much he could do to escape, but he could help his mate. He tore off a piece of the shirt he was wearing and used it to wrap around Aomine's still bleeding shoulder. Pain was visible on the pale face. The silver mixed with gunpowder prevented the shifters healing factor from kicking in. Plus, it looked like it hurt like hell.
"I... I'm sorry...", he tried to apologize from the mental link. Daiki's suffering bothering his inner animal.
" Why, baka? It's not your fault." luckily they still had that contact.
"If I weren't a bloody Omega..."
" Don't give me that one ", Daiki cut the complaint and the link with Taiga, who didn't understand the attitude. He was a little hurt at being blocked from the connection, until Daiki grabbed his arm with his good hand and gave him a meaningful look. Kagami didn't understand, but kept quiet.
The redhead lacked the Alpha's presence of mind, especially since he was so new to the shifter world. The shoulder wound hurt more than a kick in the balls, the silver burned and prevented his body from healing and clouded his concentration.
Aomine could sense his companion's anguish, but the priority was staying connected to Akashi. The keen instinct recognized the path they were following, moving away from Tokyo. As long as he managed to give the coordinates to the Beta, he would prioritize the link with Akashi. Then he would try to calm the Omega.
In addition to the coordinates, he warned others through the link that humans not only had a connection with Kirisaki Daichi, but he recognized them. He'd seen them both in one of the past games. They were the coach and assistant on the basketball team. Rather, it was the two who pretended to play that role in front of the rest of the world, as everyone knew that Makoto was the real mastermind behind the dirty tactics of both the Pack and the basketball team.
Such a gesture of allying with humans demonstrated how little Hanamiya cared about the rules of the shifter community. Well, he couldn't blame it all on the kid. After all he was a Beta. And if he acted like that with so much freedom, it was because he had permission from his Alpha, Seto Kentaro.
