The court was packed.  The Touou academy had a tradition in basketball and a great crowd, all curious to confirm the result of the night.  Among the humans, scattered in the stands, the presence of ten unknown Betas and three Alphas could be perceived.  Despite not showing any aggressive intent, GOM was attentive and placed in strategic points, ready for quick action.

All for the game between Touou versus Seirin, Alpha versus Omega, aided by a Beta.

Several factors seemed to add up against Seirin, unfortunately.  Once on the court, the undeniable superiority of Touou Academy was obvious.  All their players were top notch, and Daiki couldn't even be compared to them.  He didn't have to give it his all.

Another thing that became clear was Kagami's difficulty in making those monster jumps, a strategy he had resorted to so much in the previous game. Riko soon deduced that it was a consequence of the confrontation with Shutoku, as Taiga had crossed the line, forcing his teenage body to an effort that wasn't ready yet.

But only shifters knew the truth.

The condition of one of Seirin's top players exposed how unprepared they still were, as even giving their all, they couldn't win.  The difference in the score just widened and widened.

"It's useless"  Akashi, who was watching from the back of the court, whispered. "The result is already set"

Next to him was an Alpha.  He didn't know this guy but still kept an eye on him,  alternating looks between the game and the boy.  The news about the Omega spread like sand in the wind.  Situations like that would be frequent and bearable, as long as they didn't come with aggressive intentions.

Another person who watched everything without showing interest was Midorima.  He was sitting in one of the chairs, but close to the access corridor, a fact that facilitated any immediate action.  He could pick up two Betas nearby, but not enough to know exactly who it was.  Modorima was wearing a gold-plated chain around his neck in the best style of those American rappers.  It didn't match him at all, but it was the lucky item of the day.

"Did these guys really beat us? I can't believe it" Takao

"Hmm" Midorima replied without paying much attention to the boy sitting next to him.

"Shin-chan? Shin-chan!  You're too distracted today" Takao grumbled.

"Hm" came a reply from glasses guy

"Seriously say something!" Takao pouted and went back to watching the game.

Midorima didn't care.  He wasn't distracted, on the contrary.  His attention was fully on everything, he was aware not just of the boy beside him, but of all the Betas he could pick up, close by or not.  He was also focusing on his Pack members, including the three who were playing the game.

There was something in the air, undeniable. It felt really dense and heavy.  His inner animal stirred restlessly, suspiciously.  He couldn't tell the reason for such unusual behavior.  The atmosphere inside the gym itself wasn't bad, no shifters showing any signs of danger.  But that didn't make him relax.

Momoi and Kise were together at the back of the bleachers, but opposite Akashi, continuing the perimeter of protection.  The girl was a little sad cause she wanted Kuroko to win the match.  And it became increasingly clear that it would not be so.

The victory was in Daiki's hands, very well assured.  The atmosphere between the two Betas was mild.  They were good friends and respected each other, despite the love mess in which they were involved.  Kise didn't blame Momoi for the animal part of the girl recognizing Kuroko as a companion and being reciprocated.  Satsuki found it sad that the human part of the two boys harbored feelings.  This happened quite often in their world.  There was usually no happiness for those involved. And no one to blame.
