He could sense six different Betas scattered around the gym. He could more or less tell where each of them was, despite the distance. His instinct wasn't keen to accurately spot shifters in the crowd. Outside, he captured three more. Nine in total, from different Packs. None considered a threat, as they did not exude aggressive intentions. No Alphas were noticed. Despite this, all the members of GOM were there, curious to watch the classic of the night. Seirin against Kaijo.
"How is the link?"
Aomine looked sideways at the boy who had asked the question. Akashi was also at the back of the gym, behind everyone else. He was watching the newly started game, keeping his back against the wall. There was no bad mood or anger between them, although the Beta had threatened Daiki's mate, before the binding.
That's how the GOM worked, they didn't ferment animosity. Akashi had his personality and acted according to his way of being. That Daiki respected, since he also lived in his own way. Aakashi has been able to step back from a better solution and recognize the most appropriate way of linking. And the world moved on.
"Perfect," he replied. "The energy is flowing as it should, there is no more buildup."
"Yes, I felt that. I realised the difference it made to Seirin, the strange improvement of the team has stalled. If those guys become stronger it will be on their own, they won't steal energy from the Omega anymore." Akashi stated
" Hn." Aomine said
"On the other hand, Kise's improvement is visible, the copying of the movements is almost perfect. Tetsu too, with the effort that Seirin is making Misdirection should have already lost efficiency."
"Exactly. The flow of energy that comes from the Omega which you redirect is invigorating. It's pushing everyone to become better and better. Ryota and Tetsu's techniques are honing, they'll still get better". Akashi pointed
Aomine crossed his arms and turned his attention to the competition. Something he had already suspected was becoming more and more clear. The game had not reached the five minutes of the first quarter, and Seirin seemed pressured and cornered, despite having an Omega and a Beta between the starters.
"I feel stronger, my senses sharper, everything in general has gotten better after the bond,". He said thoughtfully. "But look at Taiga. He, like humans, is already out of breath. He's falling into Kise's trap... His stamina didn't improve at all."
Akashi pondered the statement for a few seconds. "Do you think the bond harms the Omega?"
"No" Daiki sneered with a wave of his hand. "I would know if that was it. I don't think an Omega is as tough or strong as a Beta or Alpha. His movements are more agile and Kagami has some monster jumps. But he still gets tired. like a human."
" That doesn't surprise me," the GOM captain stated, "Omegas are not warriors. Every shifter has a role within the Pack and it's not up to an Omega to fight. See Tetsu, he's also getting tired, but he uses energy to keep Misdirection's efficiency, while Kise has barely started to sweat. They are betas and above-average resistance is part of their qualities".
Aomine didn't say anything. Both were silent, watching as the referee signaled a foul against Seirin. Kaijo took two shots and hit both with precision, extending the score.
"Don't you have a game now?" Akashi asked the Alpha. Daiki folded his hands behind his head and shrugged. "I'll go there soon. Satsu should have everything under control," he replied, indifferently. It wouldn't be the first time he'd been late for a game. Sometimes he didn't even show up, depending on the rivals efforts.
Seijuro looked at the other without seeming surprised. Daiki hadn't changed much since the end of Elementary. He understood, given the circumstances, they were protecting an Omega newly bonded to the Pack. Every precaution was little.
