[Scott's Pov]
It is cold. I feel something soft under me, similar to a cushion. My chest narrows and thickens in every breath I take. I can't breath. I opened my eyes to a blinding light shining upon me. I raised my hand to cover the light from my view. I then noticed the surroundings of where I am in. I'm in a small room with each sides of the walls covered in white paint. I see a white door on the north side of the small room. I noticed the soft padding underneath me, it's a hospital bed.
A needle is punctured through my left wrist, connected to an IV fluid hung on my left. Where am I? The white door in front of me then swung open, and a wolf standing on it's two hind legs. The fur is white with no other colors. A lab coat is wrapped around it's shoulders, and a gas mask is covering it's snout. It is carrying a metal box over it's two white paws. Am I dreaming? I remained still on the bed as the anthropomorphic white wolf walks over to me. It looks at me and tilts it's head to it's left. It's soulless eyes stare deep into me. It is menacing.
"Can you speak?" The white wolf asked, and my eyes widened in surprise. I didn't know that the white wolf can speak! "I-I can. Where am I? What are you?" I asked and the white wolf began to open the metal box. With a "click", the cover of the metal box swung open, and the white wolf reached into the box before bringing out what appears to be a syringe, prefilled with a clear liquid.
"I am... Doctor K, a male wolf, and I believe your name is Scott, correct? I found your ID while undressing your trousers and shirt. It also mentioned that your previous occupation is a Robotics Engineer." So that's why he knows my name. I looked down and realized that I'm half naked with only my pair of boxers on. "Where did you take me?" I asked, confused as to where I currently am. "You are in the infirmary clinic of... A building dedicated to researching Botany and Horticulture. I found you unconscious at the blocked Subway Station. You were suffering from dehydration, and from the Pale Virus."
My heart sank deep within my chest. I have completely forgot that I caught the virus, and that my days are numbered. Doctor K reached his paw forward to me, holding the syringe containing a clear liquid. "This is the cure, but it is useless on its own. In order for you to be cured and immune from the virus, you have to be "transfurred" into something similar to myself while with the contents of the syringe injected into your bloodstream. If you are afraid of losing your human skin, then I'm afraid you will be losing more than that. The decision is yours to make. Die as a human, or survive as a beast."
What does he mean by all of that? I reached out for the syringe with my right hand and held it close to my face, examining the syringe and the liquid contents inside. I looked at the white wolf, he is now holding a clipboard on his right paw. It appears he is waiting for my decision regarding the cure. I coughed, feeling my weakening breathing worsen. "I would rather hold on to this first, and then I will use it in the right time. I do have one favor to ask..."
The white wolf's ears perked up, curious and waiting for me to speak up.
"Help me ready myself up, and give me a tour of this place. This might be my new home."
The Doctor nodded his head and helped me up from the clinic bed, fixing and readying myself. It took only a few moments before I am back on my two feet with the same clothes I worse on the time I left the bunker. I carried my bag, now containing a syringe and the rest of my belongings that I brought with me.
We left the clinic, and I was welcomed by the interior of the building. The rooms remind me of a laboratory. We walked around the laboratory as he explains to me the history of the building, before we eventually stumbled upon a room filled with advanced electronics. I rushed inside despite having difficulties with my condition. The room is large, and various electronic components are scattered around. Shelves lining up the walls of the large room, and tables arranged in rows with the advanced electronics sitting on top. This is the heaven that I have been looking for. A limitless supply of electronics!
As I walk through the room with Doctor K, I noticed one particular large table that contains a computer. The arrangement on the table reminds me of an engineering workshop. An office chair had fallen over on the floor close to the table, and I placed it back up right next to the table. "I know you're a Robotics Engineer, and this must be a heaven for you. This room is all yours to claim, but beware that I sometimes borrow from here. There is also a number of boxes containing more of the components downstairs."
I sat down on the chair and turned the power of the computer on. The screen of the monitor fired up to life, and it loaded the computer successfully. "I should get back to the tower. I will return for you with some big pillows and a box of canned foods. Since this is the Botany department, you should be able to find a greenhouse garden close by. The technology of this department has made the hydroponics self sufficient. It can grow it's own Blue Apples." The Doctor patted on my left shoulder before leaving the room.
I quickly pulled out the disc inside my bag, and carefully inserted it through the disc reader of the computer. The disc reader can be heard scanning the contents of the disc, and soon an image is present through the screen of the monitor. The image contains what appears to be a heavily body modded beast. The face of the beast has been replaced with a visor. The shoulders and hips appeared to be heavily modded as well. I pressed on the right arrow key on the keyboard, and the next image showed up with the exact beast from the previous image, except containing labels and details of what may be the material used as it points towards the specific part of the body with the use of an arrow.
A noticable word just located right above the image caught my eye, and it reads...
"Protogen"
