"Yep, I'll tell her, okay, bye. Thanks for calling, David."
Mum set the phone down, a look of any antonym to happy on her face.
My heart dropped.
"Honey, why don't you come and sit with me," she said, walking to the lounge and sitting down on the sofa.
I placed my bag on the table and sat down with her, confusion overriding my body.
"Nicolas relapsed," she said, placing a hand on my leg.
It was as if my world had collapsed.
The wall of hope I had created had crumbled to the ground in a pile of rubble.
I stood to my feet and left.
Out of the front door, to be anywhere but the home that I'd lived in my whole life.
Anywhere but the home that I spent days and months and years in with Nicolas.
I needed to be away from everything.
I needed alcohol.
I walked aimlessly and somehow ended up at Leah's house.
I knocked and was greeted by her little brother.
"Hey, Wes, is Leah here?" I asked.
He nodded, moving out of the way for me to enter.
"Are you okay, Ammy?" He queried, noticing my obvious nerves.
"Yeah, I'm fine, thanks Weston," I mussed his hair before walking up to Leah's room.
I opened the door, she was sitting in lounge shorts and a tank top on her phone.
She looked up, raised to her feet and immediately took me into her arms
"Are you okay, Am?" She asked, closing the door and guiding me to sit with her on her bed.
The tears I was holding finally welled in my eyes, "Nicolas, h- he relapsed and-"
"You don't have to tell me, Ammy. What do you need?" She asked.
"Alcohol, anything," I replied.
"I'm not giving you alco-"
"Please, Leah," I begged, "Please. I know you keep vodka in here."
"Amara," she said, "You can't just drown your feelings out with alcohol, you-"
"Leah, please," I said, ignoring her attempts to help me, "I need it."
"Amara," she called softly.
"What?" I looked at her.
"Do your parents know where you are?" She asked.
I shook my head, "Don't tell them please, I need to be away."
"Okay," she agreed, "I'm going to go and order some food. Preferences?"
I shook my head.
She put a hoodie on and opened the door, "Make yourself comfortable."
I nodded.
As soon as the door shut, I jumped to my feet and entered the closet, finding her stash of alcohol.
I popped the lid off of the bottle of vodka and took a sip, feeling better immediately.
The sip turned into the whole bottle.
I had downed it in less than 10 minutes and was brimming being black-out drunk.
