The two weeks awaiting my first class flew by, I had an alarm set for 7:45 AM, and my lecture was at 10.

The noise woke me up and I sighed, turning it off and rubbing my eyes.

I sat up and noticed Nic staring at the ceiling.

"Why are you up?" I asked, moving to the edge of the bed.

"Your alarm," he sat up.

I chuckled, "Sorry."

"It's okay," he shrugged.

I stood up and opened the curtains.

Nic moved to the edge of the couch, running a hand through his hair to move it out of his eyes.

"You don't have to get up," I said.

"I want to," he shrugged, "What time is your class?"

"Ten," I replied.

He nodded, "Okay."

He stood up and followed me down to the kitchen.

I made breakfast and we ate together, then I got ready while he sketched.

I walked into the room and saw that there was a little spider on the wall.

"Awww!" I exclaimed, running over to look at it.

"What?" Nic looked over at me.

"There's a little jumping spider here," I replied, "It's so cute."

"Did you just say that a spider is cute?" He asked.

I put my hand out and the creature jumped onto my palm.

I almost squealed at its adorableness but held off.

"Look at him!" I said, turning around.

"Don't," he put his arms out to block me.

I rolled my eyes, "You have to trust me, Nic, jumping spiders are the friendliest animals ever."

"Yes, Amara, it's cute. Take it outside," he said, barely even glancing at my hand.

"Trust me, okay?" I took a small step closer to him.

He looked at the little creature minding its business, sitting in my hand.

"It is kinda cute," he muttered.

"See? He's not gonna hurt you," I said, "Wanna hold him?"

"Not really," he replied, making me laugh.

"This is what I mean when I say bugs are friends," I smiled at the tiny thing, "They don't want to hurt you at all."

"I'll leave the bug catching to you," he joked, but I ignored him, focused on the spider.

"Alright, little fella, should we find you a nice tree?" I cooed.

Almost as if it was saying yes, it jumped onto my shirt, sitting on my shoulder.

I walked down and out into the yard, finding a lovely tree.

The little spider jumped off of my shirt and onto the bark.

I was dying inside at how adorable it was.

Nic came outside after me, "Mara, it's almost nine-fifteen."

"Oh, shit!" I said, hurrying back into the guest house to finish getting ready.
