"So what's new then?" Leah asked as we walked to the lecture hall.

"Nothing, really," I replied.

"You think I'm going to believe that?" She chuckled, "Babe, I know you better than the back of my hand, something's up."

"It's just that I got a stupid phone call the other day," I sighed, "I didn't think it would affect me so much."

"About?" She prodded.

"I'd rather not talk about it, Leah," I said sternly.

"Okay," she muttered, "That's fine, I was just curious."

We continued in silence for a moment before she spoke up.

"There's a party at Chris' tomorrow night," she offered.

"Okay?" I entreated.

"Might help take your mind off of whatever it's on," she quipped.

"I've got other things to do," I said.

"Mope around with that stupid sketchbook?" She claimed.

"It's not stupid!" I exclaimed.

"He hasn't talked to you in years, Am, why are you so stuck on him?" She inquired, "There's plenty of equally if not more attractive guys at this school but you're just stuck on that guy. What was his name? Nic or something?"

"Does it matter? It's my life, I'm allowed to like who I like," I insisted.

"Yeah, I didn't say you weren't. I just don't get why you won't explore your options," she jeered.

My heart doesn't have options.

"I don't want to," I shrugged.

"You should. You'd be surprised. Try your hand at this, follow my lead," she bounced off to one of the guys at his locker, "Hey, Kash."

"Oh, hey Leah," he glanced at her before returning to his locker.

"Have you met Amara?" She asked, signalling me.

He looked over again, "Nope, but uh, nice to meet you."

"Yeah, you too," I muttered, my eyes looking at anything but him and Leah.

"So, what's up, Leah?" He queried.

"Nothing, just being friendly," she pulled my arm, "And helping this loner meet some new faces."

"Ah," he flashed a smile, "Well, glad to be the first."

He was mildly attractive, sharp features and a mop of golden brown hair with piercing grey eyes.

"You like Shakespeare, right?" Leah probed, observing the poster of rules on the wall.

"Uh- nope. Mozart and Lord Byron," he corrected.

"Oh that's right," she murmured, clearly uninterested.

"So- ehm, what's your favourite piece by Mozart then?" I wondered.

"Uh- it's gonna have to be the Sonata for Piano and Violin in E Minor, K. 304: II. The Tempo di minuetto," he answered, shutting his locker and leaning against it.

I nodded.

"You?" He asked.

"Oh, I don't know much Mozart, I do love Ludovico Einaudi though," I shared.

"Good choice. 'Experience' what got you into him?" He raised an eyebrow.

I nodded with a slight chuckle.
