Here's the second chapter...
This story is a series and it's the first part.
And... The updates will be slow until May i.e. I will be publishing only one chapter a week. Please cope with the updating arrangement for a few days. Trust me the wait will be worth it.
And, the first book in this series is just a simple love story with tiny suspense, not a huge one like my other stories. But the other two books in the series are suspense thrillers again.
I can assure you readers that the love between the leads in this book is so intense that you can't help but fall in love with them.
Enjoy reading!!!!
“Yeah?” I say over the phone, “Mom, I will be coming in the evening, not now, please,” I plead to mom as Deva feeds me.Saisha zips my tiffin box into my bag and gestures to me to make it fast while Deva keeps feeding me. “Mom” I whine over the phone and say sternly, “I am getting late for the hospital. I have patients lined up. Bye, I will be home tonight for dinner,” I hung up immediately and sigh.
“One more morsel” Deva offers, making me riled up. Since I am on call for the past 10 minutes, I didn't notice Deva feeding me half of the rice she cooked.
“Enough!” I scream. “For the past 10 minutes, you fed a whole plate repeating one more morsel. Now I can't eat anymore.”
Deva pouts and shoves the morsel in Saisha's mouth angrily who looks back shocked. I giggle and kiss Deva's cheeks. “Bye, mommy.”
Saisha follows behind me and throws the keys at me.“Take the scooter, Avi. You can't reach the hospital if you go by car in such hectic traffic.”
I groan as my hair would turn into a bird's nest if I go on scooty but she is right. To reach the hospital I need to take shortcuts and the car doesn't help in any way. “I’m never gonna get boozed ever,” I blame the alcohol I had yesterday night and sit on the scooter.
Sneeze
“Avi, don't go,” Deva runs behind me when I was about to pull out of the gates. “I sneezed. It's bad luck”
I turn to Deva after exchanging glances with Saisha. “You can't be serious,” I shake my head at her old beliefs and laugh hard along with Ishu.
Deva pouts, “Get inside.” Deva motions her hands towards the elevator. “Please”
I laugh shaking my head no and wave at my friends before riding away.
Traffic early in the morning is a headache. Even the streets are filled up with bikes and cars. People. People. People. India needs to use condoms a lot.
I take the right to reach the main road. I drive onto the footpath as I need to get to the hospital fast now. My phone rings and I choose to ignore it. It rings, rings and rings again.
