I ride to my flat and flip my footwear angrily and barge into my room closing the door behind me with a bang.
I jump onto my bed and bury my face in it. "He is so fucking annoying. He doesn't respect women."
Man! How can someone say that to a girl? I am arrogant I know that but I don't regret it. According to me, relationships stand when we speak what's in our hearts and when we claim our rights. I did the same with him. It hit on his big fat male ego.
But, why did his hold on my wrist erupt stupid butterflies in my stomach? It wasn't uncomfortable as my HOD's hold was. He eyed me from head to toe, it didn't make me self-conscious but I felt like he is looking into my soul, not my outer looks.
He is a jerk.
Jerk. Jerk. Jerk.
I heave out loud and cry suddenly.
"Annu," I bite onto my pillow to suppress my sob. "Why don't you come back and tell everyone that you are real? I'm getting married. I don't want to marry. I don't want to adjust. I want to feel I'm needed. I want to feel I'm wanted. Only you can do that."
Hearing my sobs, Devanshi and Saisha barge inside. They gasp and sit beside me.
"What happened?" Deva asks taking my hand in hers.
"I'm fired. Since I didn't accept the HOD's proposal, he took it as a chance to fire me because I am late and patients were lined up" I cry.
"We suggested resigning long ago but you didn't. It was good that you are fired now," Ishu says, "Do you remember Dr Shreya offering you the senior post and also a good package?"
I nod. "I spoke to Dr Shreya and she is still ready to welcome me. Just for formality's sake, I'm gonna give an interview," I rest my head on Ishu's lap and my legs on Deva's.
"Do you have to share anything more?" Ishu asks.
"I met a guy today in the morning. He was annoying. His gaze was like penetrating my soul. Avyuktha never bears it if someone eyes her from head to toe but when he did, I unknowingly accepted it. His touch was offending but needed. It was just 1-2 meets and he didn't leave a chance to sabotage everything, still, I couldn't erase those from my heart. I don't know if I am still in a fantasy world when he is around me but I do feel it. I hope it's all a fantasy again" I whisper. They smile.
"And?" Deva asks.
Before I talk, her phone goes off and she lifts the call when it reads mom's number. She turns on the speaker and answers the call.
"Hello, aunty," Deva says over the phone and looks at me.
"Is she home?"
"Yes, aunty"
