Author's POV

Yuktha,” Shreyan screamed and hid between the branches. Avyuktha who is on the ground looked around for Annu.

Her lips pouted when she didn't find him anywhere in the park. “Annu?” she cried, her chin wobbling and her eyes shedding tears.

Shreyan's eyes widened and in an attempt to climb down the branches hastily, he fell on the ground with a thud sound.

Avyuktha gasped seeing Shreyan on the ground hissing, holding his head. “Annu?” she ran to him and sat beside him on the grass, “How did you fall? Did you get hurt? Is your head hurting?” she started sobbing loudly making him laugh.

Yuktha, I am fine,” he lied. His head is throbbing due to the pressure that fell on the back of his head. “Please, don't cry, girlfriend.”

“You are hurt,” black stains of kohl, her mom applied on her eyes, stuck on Avyuktha's fair cheeks and it scared Shreyan.

He sat up and hugged her tightly, making her sit in his lap, “Don't cry. See, I am fine,” he rocked her to and fro while she cried more. “Yuktha, please, don't cry.” He wiped the black stains on her cheek with the kerchief that is pinned to her chest.

“You are hurt because of me,” she cried.

His eyes widened and he shook his head violently, “No, Yuktha,” he cupped her cheeks and kissed her nose, “I am not hurt. I was acting.”

“Why?”

He looked here trying to come up with a lie but he couldn't. So, he just diverted the topic, “You know, My friends brought the camera from their home and clicked our pictures.”

Avyuktha latched her palms to her mouth, “You stole?”

He smiles sheepishly, “It's my friend's dad. He imported it from London. My friends wanted to show my parents how cute you are, so, they brought it,” He explained.

“You have my pics?” she asked wide-eyed.

He nodded, “So many. I pasted them on the wall in my room.”

“Your parents didn't scold you?” she asked.

He rocked her and kissed her cheek, “You know right? They will never be home. But they saw it yesterday. I told them about you and how I have been keeping the chocolates and gifts for them as you suggested. They were happy and wanted to meet you but they had an emergency.” He pouted.

She cupped his cheek and smiled tilting her head to the right, “It's okay,” she sings cutely, “We will meet them tomorrow.”

He looked down sadly. She pulled her lips in a thin line and made him look at her, “What happened?”

“I won't play with you,” he whispered.

“Why?” her eyes started filling again, “Is it because your friends still hate me? They told you to not play with me?”

“No. They are good. They understood us. I promised them to play for one hour with you and another hour with them,” he said immediately before she start crying again.

“Then, why?”

“Because we are going on a trip as a summer trip,” he said. “I will come back after one month.”
