colin left for school before peter could wake up, the young stark was too scared to confront the situation from last night. colin may seem like he's confident and has no problem facing the world, but in reality, he's like every other anxious teenager.
he didn't want to face peter. colin was well aware of his feelings for the doe-eyed boy. he'd known for years. they weren't close anymore, so for colin to come back into his life all of a sudden and confess his feelings, he knew it'd only end in rejection.
besides, colin was aware that now isn't a good time to get into a relationship. with his family fighting and the world beating colin down, he wouldn't fully be in the relationship. only a shell of him would be. peter was still grieving his uncle and colin wasn't going to make it worse for him by being a terrible boyfriend.
colin wasn't even sure peter felt the same or could possibly feel the same. colin knew that they had once shared a kiss, so it was made clear that peter was possibly not fully straight. but the kiss was well over a year ago, anything could've changed since then. so he wasn't going to assume that peter wasn't straight, and considering they've been out of contact for so long, he'll never know.
"what's up clark? not hanging around with parker and his loser friend today? don't tell me you broke up?" flash snarked, making colin roll his eyes.
"wow, creative. if you're jealous, say so, i'm flexible." colin laughed at flash's flushed face before making his way to his assigned locker. hearing someone approach next to him, he took a glance in his peripheral vision to see if flash followed him to finally call him a slur. "y'know, i was looking forward to flash following me and calling me a slur."
even though peter was upset at colin for leaving him alone this morning, he couldn't help but laugh at colin's remark. no matter how much the two would get mad at each other, one joke and they were giggling messes.
"how come you left so early?" peter asked, leaning against the locker beside colin's, watching as colin moved things around in his locker to distract himself. colin choked up, thinning his lips and giving peter a shrug. 'starks are made of iron' colin chanted in his head, knowing he couldn't give into the feelings that dragged him down. there were too many feelings to control which one was unleashed, and he'd be damned if he were to release hidden anger accidentally at peter.
"don't know, i didn't want to be late and have the parental units come after me." he lied, shutting his locker and turning towards the shorter male. peter sighed, before nodding.
"understandable. are we sitting together at lunch?"
"sure."
'awkward.' is what colin thought as he and peter made their way to their first period class silently. 'this is going to be one long day.'
just like the morning, colin was quick to leave peter in the dust. colin was so close with the parker family that he wasn't nervous to walk in unannounced or without knocking. may saw the young stark as another nephew she can love.
walking in the small apartment, colin was quick to make his way to peter's room where he sat himself on the twin bed, working on his homework almost immediately. he'd be doing anything to distract his mind. natasha and dara called and texted colin a bunch, which he didn't mind, he told them everything anyways.
dara was the one who kept him in the loop. colin was destroyed. he was right, his family is ripping apart. dara had mentioned that both sides were recruiting heroes or vigilantes to help aid in this civil war. if this escalates, he would have to intervene, something he didn't want to do considering he was still out of practice with his powers.
