colin sat on peter's top bunk, staring off into space, just waking up from a nap. he and ned built the majority of the death star until he got tired and decided to take a nap while they waited for peter.
colin eventually woke up to ned finishing the lego set without peter. hearing the noise of a window opening, colin turned his attention to peter who crawled into the room in full suit.
trying not to laugh, colin watched as peter moved about the ceiling, threw his mask down, closed the ajar door, and fell silently to the ground on his feet. with peter's sixth sense, colin wouldn't be able to tell you how he managed to not realize the two other people in his room.
turning around all three boys stared wide-eyed as the lego set falls out ned's hands and onto the ground, shattering. groaning, colin threw his head back.
"now we gotta start all over. what the hell."
his comment went ignored by the two as a panicked may called from the kitchen where she is cooking dinner, "what was that?"
ned stood up, shock is written over his whole face while peter looked guilty. colin was just fed up and exhausted from actually listening to his father and packed most of his room.
"uh, it's nothing. nothing." peter yelled back to may before focusing on ned, both parties ignoring colin's existence which he was fine with. colin enjoyed sitting back and watching this go down, if only he had popcorn.
"you're the spider-man. from youtube."
"i'm not. i'm not." peter lied as if he didn't just crawl on the ceiling. pressing the spider logo on the suit, it deflated and fell off peter's body leaving him only in his boxers.
colin's jaw dropped. he quickly collected himself but wasn't able to collect his thoughts. his plan to move on from peter just flew out that window he came in from. colin doesn't like to be all about looks but after seeing peter... that changed quickly.
"hot." colin muttered, not knowing that he had said it out loud to which peter heard and snuck a glance at the stark. god, i'm the biggest gay disaster created, colin thought.
"you were on the ceiling." ned spoke, snapping colin out of his less-than-innocent thoughts.
"no. what are you doing in my room?"
"may let us in. you said we were gonna finish the death star." ned explained for both him and colin. which was good since colin didn't think he'd be able to speak a word without stuttering. his face was still heating up as he continued to look at peter. no matter how much he tried to tear his gaze away, he couldn't.
"you can't just bust into my room!" both of the boys were cut off when may opened the door, giggling as she waved a rag from the smoke as a result of the failed cooking attempt.
"that turkey meatloaf recipe is a disaster." taking out her hair, she gives peter a weird look but ignored it for a moment. "let's go to dinner. thai? ned, colin, you want thai?"
ned happily said yes while peter jumped in and spoke over him, "no. they got a thing."
"a thing to do after." ned tried but was shut down.
"okay." may said and went to leave the room before she turned back and addressed peter, "maybe put on some clothes." she winked at peter who was still aware of colin staring at him. colin turned to may, finally acknowledging her presence. he caught her wink before she shut the door. his cheeks caught aflame again in embarrassment for being caught.
peter pulled on the sweatshirt from his chair as ned continued to freak out. "oh, she doesn't know?"
"nobody knows." peter exclaimed quietly before changing his answer, "mr. stark knows because he made the suit and colin knows because he caught me through snapchat maps. that's it."
"wait." ned looked up at colin, "you knew?!"
"uh, yeah? peter's not all that bright with common sense and awareness. it was easy to figure out. no offense pete." colin spoke, not bothering to whisper like the two idiots. that and colin already knew that may knows about spider-man. peter shrugged, not offended. "tony stark made you that? are you an avenger?"
there was a small pause before peter said, "yeah, basically." colin choked a laugh, coughing instead. peter was so not an avenger. "you can't tell anybody about this. you gotta keep it a secret."
"secret? why?" colin looked at ned like he had a second head.
"you know what she's like. if she finds out people try and kill me every night, she won't let me do this anymore. come on, ned, please."
"okay, okay, okay. i'll level with you. i can't keep this a secret. it's the greatest thing that's ever happened to me." colin laughed, he appreciated ned's honesty. he knew that ned would try and keep it a secret but, knows it won't go well. it's the thought that counts, i guess, colin thought.
"ned, may cannot know. i cannot do that to her right now. you know? i mean, everything that's happened with her, i— please." finally, ned caved in.
"okay."
"just swear it, okay?"
"i swear."
"thank you." colin sighed, before finally jumping down from the top bunk.
"you two are children. stop being ridiculous." colin voiced, watching as peter continued to freak out. by now, ned calmed down. for now.
"i can't believe this is happening now." peter stressed.
"can i try the suit on?" and there began the unlimited questions from ned.
"i'm gonna tell you at school tomorrow." peter rushed, guiding ned to his bedroom door, ignoring all the influx of questions.
"great."
"just get out of here." peter shut the door, leaning on it, hands in his hair, visibly stressed.
peter had completely forgotten about colin for a moment until a hand fell on his shoulder.
"hey, what's wrong? you're severely stressed." peter sighed, turning towards the stark.
"i just had a really bad day on patrol, and now ned found out about spider-man and i can't have may know. colin, i don't even know what i'm doing half the time." peter kept rambling and their proximity to keep their voices hushed didn't help colin's thoughts and they were still focused on before and the current concern for peter's mental health.
"peter. breathe. slow down, take deep breaths." colin instructed, to which peter obliged. "better now? got it all off your chest."
nodding peter spoke calmly, "yeah, thanks. i needed that."
"anytime peter, you know i'm always here. have been since the day we met."
"i know, thanks lin." and with that, the two split up. colin went home to collect himself and peter went out to dinner with his aunt. both teens conflicted with their emotions.
