by the time colin woke up after the conversation between his father and peter, the room was dark and the sunlight outside the window was gone. colin noticed the closet door left open with a few of the little pieces of clothing peter owned along with his homemade suit.

standing up, colin tidied himself up to look decent. he decided to forego putting back in his packer since it was still late at night, he would pass out soon again.

walking outside the room, he met may who was sitting on a stool in the kitchen reading the paper. hearing footsteps, may looked up, sending the stark a small smile.

"hey sweetie, how are you feeling? peter said you weren't doin' so well." colin snorted, but quickly gave may an apologetic stare.

"sorry, it's just uh- i've been having family issues if you've seen the news." colin humorlessly chuckled as he walked closer to his sudo aunt. sitting down, may passed colin a plate.

"i've seen it, and i'm sorry you keep getting stuck in the middle of it all. gosh, i remember you being so little and being thrown here for safety. i know it wasn't easy." may spoke, showing her sympathy for the young boy. "i made this for peter but, he got the stark internship so he's going to a convention in germany, but between you and me, we both know that's bullshit."

colin let out a genuine laugh, nodding his head. "yeah, my dad and peter aren't always the brightest sometimes. they didn't even bother to see if i was asleep before proceeding to have a loud conversation." taking a bite, he quickly chewed before he lost his train of thought. "oh, i didn't want to bring it up, but i felt the need to apologize."

"what do you possibly have to apologize for?"

"peter uh, told me about ben." colin began to speak before he trailed off, wringing his hands anxiously. "i had no idea. pepper never told me, i had just thought that when i started to transition, peter didn't want to be 'with' me anymore."

colin doesn't open up to many people, and it should be weird that out of everyone he's opening up to peter's aunt. right now, between the people he trusts, only may could help.

"oh sweetheart, i may not know what peter is feeling, but i know he was devastated when you both lost touch. and i had figured as much when you never showed up for the funeral. i cannot speak for peter but i can tell you that peter would never dislike or hate you because you wanted your body to reflect your heart and mind. we have accepted you since day one, and we always will." at this point, colin was crying again, and may had moved from her spot to hug the brunette. "you are as much of a nephew to me as peter. you grew up here with us, and we'll always love you. remember that."

nodding his head, colin muttered a soft 'thank you' as he wiped his tears. pulling from the hug, the two laughed before going back to their food. it was the simple things like a sit-down dinner is what colin needed. did it suck that peter up and left, yeah. but, having someone like may whose switzerland just like him, it was refreshing.

it was moments like them where colin wished his life was 'normal'. everyone's definition of normal is different but for colin, it will always be the father, mother, kids, hell maybe even a pet, on the couch watching a family movie together. the only times where he got that was with ben, may, and peter. and god colin misses it. he got a taste of it a few days ago when he first came to the parker residence and doesn't want to lose it.

later that night, like deja vu, may and colin sat on the couch cuddled up. and the tv was on, the news on every channel. their fight at the airport wasn't going unnoticed and was the main talk on every news station currently. each station with a new story that strays from the other stories told. only colin and may know the truth.

it was heartbreaking for colin to watch the news feed. what he predicted and had spoken about is now happening, and he's stuck. he loves his family, but he can't choose sides. it's impossible to. he dreaded going home now.

"oh my god." colin spoke, sitting up to get a closer look at the tv. he had to watch his uncle, the one who took care of him the most, free fall to the ground from thousands of miles in the air. "why is nobody catching him!?"

may was quick to wrap her arms around the freaking out stark, trying to calm him down. but when rhodey hit the earth and didn't move a muscle, colin lost it.

he could only scream out, sobs escaping him. he hates crying, especially in the presence of others. but rhodey could have just died on live television and that was how colin would find out. in a haze, colin texted peter... only two simple words, but it was enough for peter and his father to get the hint.

i know...

a/n:
i'm not one to do author's notes, but i have a question... i have two filler chapters, they'd be random, plot oriented but doesn't effect the future of the story. it could be an instagram post, twitter post or messages between colin and others or a group chat. would you guys be interested me in posting them or scrap the idea?
