Chapter 23

30 minutes later, knights in groups of four began to return to the Nightmare's Hearth Section A one by one.

"Dispatched unit, Section B in charge reporting! No suspicious movements and entities found"

"Next"

The Knight Captain, receiving the reports did not grimaced at the news brought by the knights. He was not dissuaded by the fact that the minions he mobilized didn't find anything. The whole underground prison is wide added by the Nightmare's Hearth Section. Even if one unit did not find anything, there were other units who could hopefully, find something regarding the assailants they were pursuing.

"Dispatched unit, Section C in charge reporting! No suspicious movements and entities found"

" Next"

(.......)

This process continued for the next few minutes.

If earlier, the Knight Captain's mood is 0 degree, now it plummeted to -10 degrees.

None of them found anything, not even a single strand of hair of the assailant.

The knights could see the apathetic expression plastered upon the Knight Captain's face. If others saw it, they would see it as the usual expression of the captain. How the knights wish that was the case.

But they grimaced at the darker shade apparent on their Captain's gaze. They knew that their captain was in a bad mood right now.

They failed to capture the assailant, much less catch a single stroke of their hair. An impending loom was cast upon their face as they lowered their head under the Captain's gaze.

"........."

However, God has not completely turned their back against them yet.

"Where is the unit dispatched outside the gate?"

"They...they haven't come back yet S-Sir"

The first dispatch unit, led by Muin has yet to come back and report to the Captain. That means their group most likely encountered the assailants in pursuit right now.

"We'll focus our forces on the location of their unit. The assailants hasn't completely escaped yet"

The knight captain was quick to judge the situation, so he ordered his men to reinforce the first unit.

Hearing this, the knights released their tensed shoulders and subconsciously let out a sigh.

It seems that they avoid the wrath of their captain. So they silently thanked their missing comrades.

'we shall not forget your sacrifice'

At that, all the knights including the knight captain mobilized outside the huge metallic door, the gate of the Nightmare's Hearth.

.

Blue eyes materialized from a random barrel inside the large room. There, an individual covered in black robe covering most of their features and half of their face emerged. They had a small stature like that of a grown child and their hands were slightly smaller than a full grown adult.

"Haaa... fortunately, the trap i set up worked"

'I was starting to get bored. It's suffocating inside'

That particular individual was in fact, Melipione still on her disguise.

She in fact as she mentioned to Lypus earlier, did not come here unprepared.
