Chapter 17

Staring at the sunset while sipping a glass of water at the terrace, I observed the view from the top floor.

The sky was dyed in orange and the sun is now viewed in a low altitude. Bright lit sky was now promoting to be swallowed by the incoming darkness, along with the chilly air that visits the night.

It was a splendid sight.

Along with that imagery, i could hear the noises of several people on the ground busily doing their jobs. They were mostly from the knights below this room. In particular, the knights wearing red mixed with black uniforms. Who was in fact, assigned to do a surveillance of me. Based on their uniform patterns, I guessed they were from the 2nd Knight Order, Death Squad.

'Father put on an excellent watch on me huh? Should I consider this an honor being monitored by the second ranked knight order? How considerate of him, I'm touched.'

He placed a surveillance team on me despite saying he believes me more than the rumors. The Duke did not truly trust me and was still suspicious so he wanted to make sure if my words are true or not.

Well that's understandable, the Duke is not a complete idiot. I expected this much the moment I act up.

Still, it did not made me happy. He's a thorough vermin.

Occasionally peeking at my direction, the knights assigned from the 2nd knight order would keenly observe every bit of my moves, though it did not escape my sharp vision. Likewise, I was observing their behavior too.

"She's been standing there for a while. There's no suspicious movement worthy to be noted of so far. Everything seemed to be normal"

A knight with a stoic face spoke.

" I know right? Everything is just normal so why do we have to waste out time observing a nobody? Ugh! This is so bothersome, we were assigned to a useless task, are they trying to torture us in boredom? We should be one of the knights who would lead the search, we are the elites! The best of our knight order so why should we stoop this low just because of an insignificant little girl?!"

The man with a red hair grumbled. Spit flew from his mouth because of his nonstop blabbering. Because of this, the first knight took a step backwards with an annoyed look on his face.

" Hey do you live under a rock or something? They made us do this because of the rumors going around. It won't hurt to be a little suspicious"

"I know that much you rascal. Even so, they're uselessly worried over nothing! What could that feeble child do? It would be acceptable if they assigned this to someone who's most suitable for this role, not us, the elites! Man, so frustrating.."

Spit flew as he speak once again but the red haired knight didn't notice this as he was busy ranting out to his fellow knight. He was egoistical and greatly cares about his status so he wanted to release his displeasure to the other unlucky knight who ended up in the same task as him.

However, a look of displeasure was visible on the first knight's face as he watch the saliva falling on the ground. It was as if a virus was contaminating the surrounding.

If he let the red haired knight grumble any longer, he was sure a river made of his saliva would flow out next. So he planned to shut his fellow knight for the better.

"What could we do? Stop grumbling anymore it's not like we could oppose the order given to us by our superior. Let's just quietly finish our task instead, that would be better"

"Haa.. fine"

At his submissive tone, the first knight inwardly smiled. A triumphant expression was visible on his face as if he defeated a tough opponent.
