After meeting Impulse near stress' base, they immediately set off the next morning. Everyone was worried, especially because Grian hadn't made his way back, despite saying he'd be a few days at the most.

"I really hope Grian gets back soon." Mumbo said, walking beside Scar.

"I'm sure he'll be fine. Especially if he's with his Admin friends! Also, he's pretty strong so I wouldn't worry." Scar reassured, happily following the few Hermits that were in front.

"Yeah, you're right. He can handle himself." Mumbo muttered.

"Alright, guys! We're going to stop here for a little while whilst we recharge and eat some food." Xisuma explained as he stopped in a clearing and started pulling some logs to be aligned with each other so they could be used as seats.

Everyone helped create a fire and prepare food. For a few minutes, everyone forgot about what would happen when they met with Sam and the others. It was great to catch up with all their friends.

After half an hour, everyone had eaten and was ready for travelling again. They were already about half way to meet Sam so they were all prepared for non stop walking.

"Are we nearly there yet?" Pearl asked mischievously. Some were giggling at her whilst others sighed, rolled their eyes or gave her a boring response.

With Sam

Sam had ordered everyone to meet near the Boatem Pole and they all showed up.

"Where's Doc and Ren?" Etho asked suspiciously.

"They decided to take a walk. A very long walk." Sam answered, hoping the masked Hermit would stop pestering him.

Etho decided to stay quiet and talk to the others after the awkward interaction. Despite his best efforts, he still kept thinking about Ren and Doc. They seemed very invested in Sam's story and said they'd 'fight for justice'. It was strange that they'd miss Sam's most important meeting.

"I think I can see them in the distance False shouted, pointing over to the fast approaching group of Hermits.

Sam was grinning. He had a perfect plan. Nothing could ruin it and he knew it would work.

"Okay, guys. Come here and put your communicators on. I made them better and they work faster." Sam lied. He actually did nothing, he just implanted a needle into the bottom of the device, which would stab into the Hermits' wrists and inject a chip into their veins. This chip was a mind control chip and it was coded to make them obey Sam at all costs.

"Awesome!" Cleo smiled, fastening the device around her arm. After a few seconds, her eyes became constricted and wide. A rush of adrenaline shot through her. Looking around, the other Hermits were acting the same. All had either dilated or constricted pupils and seemed to be in pain. It was extremely hard to watch.
She couldn't remember anything after that moment.

All the Hermits had reached the edge of the deep pit and watched as Sam talked quietly to the strangely unresponsive Hermits.

"What do you think is wrong with them?" Scar whispered to Xisuma.

"I'm not sure. It's as if they're being controlled or something. And their pupils seem constricted or really big. It's strange to see them acting like this..." Xisuma answered anxiously.

Sam suddenly turned to the group.

"I called you here to justify my actions." He started. He was also scanning the crowd, presumably looking for someone.

"You hurt our friend! That's not a very justifiable action." Pearl stated angrily.

"I understand how you just feel! But you have to understand, I was being controlled by Watchers!" Sam continued, looking everywhere possible for the missing Hermit.

The group of Hermits murmured between themselves. They all had varying opinions, but Xisuma knew the truth.

"Liar! Grian is a Watcher! He was also controlled by them and after escaping, he came here." Xisuma started anxiously, ignoring the few gasps from the Hermits who didn't know Grian's secret.

"That's what happened to me!" Sam continued, weaving his intricate web of lies.

"I know you're lying because Grian got wings from his time with them. And he still has a few scars on his arms from the labour they made him do. You don't have any wings and aside from mud, your skin is unmarked!" Xisuma shouted. All he wanted was to stall Sam long enough for Grian to arrive.

A slow clap snapped X out of his thoughts."Well done, Xisuma. You found out my secret. And in only a few minutes, too! You're almost as insufferable as Gree-on! Maybe I'll stab you like I did to him!" Sam started laughing manically.

"He's literally unhinged..." Stress muttered under her breath.

The air was tense and the only sound was Sam giggling to himself.

"You know, I've not laughed like this in a long time!" He continued to laugh, making an uncomfortable feeling encompass the area.

"Sam. Get to the point. Why did you want us here?!" Xisuma said, shuffling backwards to stay as far away from the man as possible.

"Etho, Cleo, False. Kill them." His voice turned harsh in a matter of seconds and a crisp gust of wind hit their faces.

"WHAT!?" Each Hermit seemed as surprised as the next and they all stood, ready for an attack...
