18. baby time

A few months later.

Luke's pov.
Julie's still sleeping and i have my hand on her belly. Since she cannot sleep on her stomach it's a good thing for me so i can feel our little girl move sometimes. I watch the belly and wait till i can see a move. It's insane that a baby is in there. And it's insane that that's our little girl. Our daughter. After a few minutes I decide to get up and make some tea for Julie. Since our girl can come anytime now i try to be the best boyfriend for Julie. I also make some eggs and cut some fruits. I set everything up on the table and wait for Julie to wake up. And after a while Julie finally waddles down the stairs. That's why she is my little Pinguin.
"Good morning beautiful" I say.
I kneel down to speak to the belly.
"Good morning baby" i say.
"Good morning Patterson" Julie walks to the table and sits down. We both start eating.

Julie's pov.
After we ate breakfast I walk upstairs to lay back in bed. My bag is killing me today. Luke walks in and takes care of my food.
"I have horrible back and hip pain today" I explain.
"Oh, are you still okay with that my mom comes over?" Luke says.
"Of course!" I say. I rub over my belly because babygirl is moving like a champion today. Luke also pats my belly and I take another nap.

After 1 hour Luke wakes me up to come downstairs because Emily's here. I slowly walk downstairs, it hurts my back.
"Hello darling!" Emily says. She gives me a big hug.
"Hi Emily" I say.
"How are you?" She asks.
"Good, just back pain" I tell her.
"Oh it will be worth it" Emily says. We sit outside on the table in the garden and drink some lemonade and eat a cake I made.
It is a nice day and the sun out.
After 2 hours Emily makes her way back home and me and Luke are making some pasta for dinner. I was just about to take some tomatoes out of the fridge as I fell a sharp pain.
"Ow" I say.
"What's wrong?" Luke asks.
"It hurts." I say.
"What?" He asks.
"My belly" I take a deep breath and the pain goes away.
"Oh it's gone!" I say. I continue cutting the tomatoes but I see Luke giving me a worried look on his face.
"I'm fine!" I tell him. He nods and gives me a kiss on my forehead.
After we ate the delicious pasta we make our way to bed. I'm super tired and my back started hurting more.

The next day.

I wake up at 8am and try to get out of bed. But my back is hurting so bad. I decide to just sit on the edge of my bed until it gets better. I rub over my big belly. It grew so much. Now it's hopefully almost time for her to come outta me. I feel Luke moving on the otherside of the bed.
"What's wrong babe?" He asks.
"My back hurts so much" I say.
"Oh do you think it's time to go?" Luke asks.
"No not yet" I stand up and start walking around the room to hopefully relieve that pain. I use my arms to support me on the makeup table. Agh. It hurts now in my lower belly too. I take a few deep breaths.
Luke walks up to me and rubs my back.
"Ugh" I sigh it hurts really bad.
"I think that was a contraction?!" I say to Luke.
"You sure?" He asks.
"Yea" I start the timer on my phone and Luke helps me get ready. I brush my hair as I feel another contraction hit me. I hold my hips and breathe through it. I look at the time-10min apart. Luke walks in.
"Another one?" He asks.
"Yep" I say. I suddenly feel pressure in my lower belly and water running down my legs. I look down and Luke gets me a towel.
"Oh no, did you pee yourself?" Luke says.
"Nope I think my water just broke!" I say.
"What!" Luke gets me a new pair of clothes. And we walk downstairs and in the car.
"Tell me if I need to stop okay?" Luke says. I nod and we start driving to the hospital. I got hit with another one. I grab Luke's hand.
"It's okay babe" he says. No nothings okay it's hurting so so bad.
"Agh" I yell.

After 10min we reach the hospital and me and Luke follow a nurse into a room. Luke helps me get on the bed.
"Hello Julie. I'm your nurse for today. I'm gonna check how far you are real quick." The nurse says.
"Okay you are at 4cm Julie!" She says.
"Oh" I say.
"I'm gonna check on you later" she walks out of the room.
Luke sits next to me.
"Wow we're gonna be parents so soon Julie." He says. I smile at him because another contraction hits me.
"Ah" I yell. Gosh is that hurting. Luke rubs my back. After it's gone he gives me some water. He is the best support. Luke gives me a kiss on my forehead. Now it's time to wait.
We talk about everything for hours with contraction- breathing breaks in between. It's literally the worst pain. I walk around the room because of the pain sitting isn't really comfortable.
Another one hits me with full blast.
"Agh!" I sigh. Luke supports me.
He rubs my back and gives me kisses. I love him so much.

4 hours later. It's exhausting. It's hard and I want this to be over. I lay in bed coverd with a blanket crying because of the pain. The nurse just told me that I can start pushing soon. Luke gives me some water. I take a few sips.
"It's okay hun" Luke trys to calm me down. He kisses my forehead again.
"Okay let's do this" the nurse walks in.

A contraction hits me again.
"Okay push......1......2.......3.....4...5-"
"Ahhhh!!" I yell and squeeze Luke's hand.
"You can do it babe!" He says.
"Good job, and again!1......2......-" The nurse says.
I push.
"I can't do this!" I yell.
"You can!" Luke says.
"And again! 1...-" the nurse says.
"Aghhhhhhhhh!" I yell. Gosh!
I suddenly feel relief. And I breath out.
"Good! Here she is!" The nurse gives me my baby on my chest. I did it omg! I look at her. She's beautiful. I start crying so does Luke.

Luke pats her little hand.
"Shhh it's okay baby" I whisper.
After a while a nurse says" You can now try to feed her" the nurse shows me how to do it. Luke and me watch her eating. After she finished the nurse
takes her.
"What's her name?" A Nurse asks.
"Dahlia" me and Luke say with a smile. I close my eyes for a second. I'm exhausted and tired. Luke pats my head. I smile at him. And fall asleep.

I wake up because I hear my dad talking. How long did I sleep? I open my eyes and see dad and Luke sitting on the couch Dad has Dahlia in his arm. He smiles at her as well as Luke. I try to sit up but it still hurts down there. Luke sees me and helps me sit up.
"Dad!" I say. He gives Dahlia to Luke and comes over to hug me.
"How are you mija?" Dad asks.
"Good but still tired" I say.
"I'm so proud of you Julie" he says. I smile at him. Luke gives me Dahlia to feed her.
"How long did I sleep?" I ask him.
"Mhm about 4 hours or something" he says.
"What wow!" I laugh.
Dad watches Dahlia sleep I my arms. He smiles at me and pats Dahlias head.
"She has a lot of hair" he says.
"Yeah haha" i laugh.
"You had that too" dad explains. I think about mom and how much I wanted her with me during birth.
"Mom would be so so proud of you!" Dad kisses my forehead.
I smile at him and my daughter.
