My head shot up as water dripped down my face. Then I turned my head to see Romeo and Rafe laughing.

"Man, that was epic!" Romeo clapped and laughed.

I noticed the broken latex on the bed with a big ass wet spot.

"That's for all the times you nailed us with water balloons, you tool!" Rafe said.

I scrambled from my bed, bolted through the doorway, and chased Romeo and Rafe downstairs. My brothers were idiots. Who the hell pelts you with water balloons while you're sleeping?

I jumped on Romeo aa we crashed to the floor. Rafe roared with laughter while Romeo and I wrestled around on the floor. Val walked over and dragged me off, Romeo.

What the hell? Val could have given me a chance to get a few good licks.

"Are you done?" Val asked us.

"Do we look like we're done?" Rafe asked.

"Should I give you five good reasons?"

"Yeah, we're done." Rafe rolled his eyes.

Val shook his head. "Grow up before I beat your asses."

"Have you met us?" Romeo asked.

"Unfortunately. Ma and Dad saddled me with you."

"Oh, boo hoo. Cry me a River," Rafe said.

It's not that I didn't want to see Val beat Rafe's ass, but I needed dry clothes. I wasn't planning to get a bath while I slept. I hiked up the stairs to change my clothes.

Reese and I ran her route before heading to the bakery.

"Why couldn't you drag Rafe with you?" I asked while running.

"Rafe is busy tormenting Marty. Plus, it'll give us a chance to talk since we haven't had time."

"Talk about what?"

"What happened between you and Adam?"

"What do you mean?"

Reese stopped me. "Bailey, something happened, or you wouldn't get freaked out with Adam. So, what happened?"

"Adam talked Director Smith into giving me a spot in the summer program because he wanted easy access to me. Director Smith wasn't going to offer me a spot. Everything was fine until Adam kissed me."

"What did you tell Adam when he kissed you?"

"I told Adam the kiss was a mistake. When Adam found out I was talking to Marty, he became jealous. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have had a chance to talk to Marty. Reese, I waited five years, hoping Marty would make a move."

"Wait. Have you liked Marty this entire time?"

"Yeah."

"Why didn't you tell Marty?"

"I didn't want to ruin our friendship." I shrugged.

Reese knitted her brows as we started walking.

"I would have ignored my feelings if I could keep Marty in my life."

"I don't think it would have mattered."

"What do you mean?"

"Marty would have fought for you. Rafe said when you stayed on campus this summer, disappointed Marty. But Marty didn't want to keep you from your dream."
