That's a fine mess you've gotten yourself in

Marty

I dreamt about different things while I slept. My dreams ranged from the shit I did when I was a kid to Bailey. I liked my dreams about Bailey since they were interesting.

That reminds me. Where the hell is Bailey? Why hasn't she visited me? Is she mad at me because I wasn't with her when her dad died? Does she resent me?

My eyelids fluttered open as machines beeped. Then Ma shoved her face into mine. I pushed her face away.

"Martin Gabriel Harper!" Ma exclaimed.

I tried to sit up but had difficulty.

Dad helped me since pain shot through my arm. "Tori, is it necessary to shove your face into Marty's?"

"I was checking on my baby," Ma said.

"Give your baby some breathing room."

Ma rolled her eyes. Dad helped me into a seat position.

"Thanks." I raised my arm with a cast from my hand to my shoulder as my eyes widened. "What the hell?"

"You broke your arm in two places. The doctor performed surgery to reset it. He also placed pins in it," Dad explained.

I knitted my brows.

"Your brothers explained what happened."

I lowered my arm. "Two aggressive girls wouldn't leave me alone and chased me into a tree."

"Did you need something like food or a beverage?" Ma asked.

"I'm a little hungry and thirsty."

"I'll have the nurse bring you something." Ma left the hospital room.

I glanced at Dad. "Is Bailey here?"

"Not yet. Everyone is at the house. I told them they couldn't see you until you were in a regular room."

"Oh."

Dad gave me a knowing look. "Bailey is coming to see you today."

I rubbed my forehead. "I wouldn't blame Bailey if she didn't come. I'm sure hospitals aren't her favorite place."

Dad arched his brow.

Ma returned and hovered. It's not that I don't appreciate her presence, but I needed some breathing room. Dad kept her from pouncing on me. Thank God.

A few minutes later, my brothers showed their ugly mugs.

"How are you feeling?" Val asked.

"Like shit. Where's Bailey?"

"Damn, you're a model patient," Rafe said.

I shot Rafe a glare. Rafe shrugged.

"The girls are coming in a few," Pat said.

"Are you sure?" I asked.

"Yeah, why?"

"Because I don't see them."

"Damn, dude. What's got your panties in a bunch?" Romeo asked.

"How about I had two dogs chase me in a tree while you did nothing but stand there?"

"Wait. Hold up. Rafe and I helped. Pat stood on the ground."

"You should have helped faster."

"Screw you!"

Dad got in front of Romeo and kept him from throttling me. "Settle down."

"Then tell Martin to knock his shit off."
