Marty
On our way to the haunted hayride, I sat in the front seat with Val, so no one bumped my arm. Pat sat in the back with Rowan, Leokadia, and Bailey. Now imagine Pat sitting in the backseat with three girls. He turned off his hearing aids, if that gives you any idea how he enjoyed sitting with them.
Val pulled into the parking lot. We got out as Pat walked over and turned on his hearing aids.
"Do I want to know?" Val asked.
"I can handle the girls' conversation until it switches to their monthly cycles," Pat said.
I chuckled.
"I have learned more about a girl's period than I wanted, thanks to Rowan," Pat added.
Val and I laughed.
"I don't need to know the details. Just tell me you need pads or tampons and chocolate. I'm good without knowing the rest," Pat said.
Val and I roared with laughter.
Pat walked away, mumbling to himself as Rowan ran after him. Leokadia and Bailey darted towards the entrance as Val and I trailed them.
"How are things between you and Bailey?" Val asked me.
"The transition from friends to the couple has been rough with everything that happened."
"Yeah, but it's not like it's a brand new relationship. You've spent five years getting your footing."
"That helps, but I get embarrassed when we get intimate."
"Why?"
"I'm afraid I'll screw things up."
Val stopped and turned to me. "Little brother, sex isn't the end-all, be-all with a relationship. It's a part, but it's not what you base a relationship on. No one says you need to rush into sex when dating."
"I know, and I'm working on my issues."
"Let the relationship progress naturally. Now, let's have some fun."
I gave Val a nod and walked toward the hayride. Rafe stood in the wagon and held out his hand to me. I gripped it as he helped me into the wagon. I found a seat as Bailey sat next to me.
Everyone found their seats. Once we got situated, the wagon moved into a maze. The maze was dark with neon lights as spooky sounds echoed throughout the trip. People jumped out at us as objects popped up. We screamed, then laughed.
Rafe made sure no one knocked into my arm when someone lunged at us. As the driver drove through the maze, we had a blast. Liam even got into it and scared the girls as Casper, and my brothers laughed.
I glanced at my brothers as they smiled at me and glanced at each other. My lips curved upward because my brothers had my back.
There's something about a brother's bond. No matter what happens, your brothers have your back. It doesn't matter if you fight amongst each other. Your brothers will fight with you when needed.
The hayride ended, and Romeo and Val helped me down. When my sneakers hit the ground, I held out my hand. Bailey took it as I helped her down. I slid my hand into hers as we headed to get hot cider.
While we stood in line, a couple of guys bumped into me. I turned to face them.
"What are you looking at?" One guy asked me.
"Do you mind?" I asked.
"No. Turn your ass around before I make you." Another guy circled his finger.
