Nicholas's POV
the next day passes in silence- not what i hoped but what i expected.I made my way to the office as i had to take care of some urgent bussiness.
I spent hours in my office fixing urgent matters, signing paperwork, holding meetings and all other office work.
"Isabella not being here makes me lonely" i thought to myself as i walked out and saw the empty desk that was once filled with her sight.
She did her work so well that I didn't feel the need to be here everyday but now that she is not here, every hour feels like a day itself filled with burden that only she could've taken care of
I make my way to my car as the sun sets behind me and the entire skyline turns pink-blue and a tad bit orange to see off yet another day.
I put the keys in ignition, rotate them on as the car fills with life and the engine roars. I swiftly drive away from the office
I keep thinking about the response i would receive from whoever it is that so desperately wanted to ruin me that in no time, i reach my home.
I open the front door as i see Isabella laying on the couch, her eyes closed and her face portraying what i knew peace to be
I pull the blanket over her and turn off the tv, then go to my room to take a good warm shower
I get changed and come down to see her woken up and doing something in the kitchen
"What are you doing?" I ask her as i sit on the bar stool and she looks at me smiling
"I was making something for myself. Do you want something to eat too?" She asks me and i look around to the empty house
"Where's the maid?" I ask her and she tells me that the maid had to take care of something urgent
"I'll have whatever you're having then" i tell her and she continues cooking
"Oh by the way, there is something for you on the table" she tells me pointing towards the centre table and i walk over to see a brown envelope
I pick it up and open it to see pictures and a note
The pictures make me angry and my knuckles start to turn white every passing second i look at the pictures
"What is wrong?" Isabella asks me and i look at her with an expressionless face
"We got the response" i say almost inaudible and she quickly comes over to me
"What the-" she stops not completing her sentence as she examines the pictures
"They kidnapped my family as their response" I say as i crush the paper in my fist.
