Isabella's POV
the next morning i woke up with a severe headache, I didn't know why.Dragging myself out of bed i tried to make my way into the kitchen, took my medicine and sat on the chair. The world started to clear out for me as my vision came back and i could finally open my eyes.
I got up and headed for a warm shower hoping to clear my mind.
I took my time getting ready and choosing my outfit. I was never this picky, but lately my appearance started to matter more to me and i wanted to dress as best as i could.
I finally picked out a Black plaid blazer coat with skinny jeans and grey ankle boots. I accessorized them with gold chain and a ring. My hand hovered over the engagement ring on the table that was shining brightly showing off its worth.
I bit my lips as i decided to wear it or no but then quickly gave up the idea and wore it. I gave one last look in the mirror then headed out.
I drove to the office and took a deep breath then entered the building running through my usual morning routine.
After a few hours of gathering paper work, talking to clients and answering emails, i poured myself a cup of coffee and exhaled.
Everything makes me so tired these days.
I looked around the office and saw people glancing at me, none of them talking to me. It made me uncomfortable
I looked at Maria who was standing alone glancing at me from afar and called her out
She hesitantly took a step towards me but stopped short. She quickly regained her composure and walked towards me
"Whats up with everyone?" I asked her and she took my hand leading me to the corner
"Everyone's talking about how you lured the Former CEO's son for his money" she said a little louder and i gasped. My blood started to boil and veins appeared on my forehead
"What the fuck" i said gritting my teeth
"How could y'all think like that?" I said annoyed and maria looked at me with guilt
"The pictures came out as a shock to almost all of us, i mean the son just came to the office half a month ago and now you both are together. If not me, then at least everyone else is having a hard time believing that you really fell for each other" she spoke and for some reason her words made a lot of sense.
If that happened to someone else, I would've also jumped to conclusions.
"But I didn't lure him into anything, trust me Maria" i said to her and she reassuringly held my hand
"I know, i trust you Bella" she said with a smile.
"Everyone gather around here" We heard Nicholas shouting from the hallway and quickly made our way there
Nicholas turned around to look at me as i walked to him and everyone made their way for me to stand beside him
"You see, we are engaged but a lot of people do not seem to understand and have quite a thing of making false assumptions" he said angrily and several people slumped their heads in embarrassment
"I would like to clear this out. Do not make assumptions. She didn't try to lure me or anything, in fact i was the one who took liking in her so please if you have to talk, talk about me. Leave her alone" he announced and gestured everyone to disperse
He gave me a long look and then went into the office without saying anything
I walked back to my desk and started working again. The day passed by quickly and i was now wrapping up everything so i could head out.
Nicholas had already left, he was being awfully quiet and distant today, i wonder if something happened.
I picked up my phone to call him but stopped thinking what i would say. This is a contract. I shouldn't care about his private affairs i reminded myself
I kept my phone back in my bag and made my way out to the basement.
I got in my car and drove to the house. Halfway through i could feel my car slowing down to almost a stop.
I got out and looked around my car
"Dammit" i sweared seeing the flat tires. I looked around the road to find help but unfortunately it was dark and empty
So dark that it started to frighten me. I grabbed my phone from the car and quickly tried to dial someone when suddenly i heard some movement behind me.
I froze in my tracks not moving an inch. cold sweats started forming on my forehead as i felt someone's presence behind me
Nothing happened for a second but then suddenly, i felt a sharp pang on my head and then
Everything went dark as i fell on the ground loosing my consciousness.
