Chapter 36-The end of a fairytale

Isabella's POV
"Cole" i hesitate as i whisper his name among the crowd

He firmly keeps a hand around my waist as he leads me to the front

All i can hear is cheering and all i can see is overhyped people

"What's happening" i ask him leaning a bit closer and he smiles

He takes my hand in his as he kneels down on one knee and everyone gasps going wild

"Isabella" is all he says and every single person in the crowd goes silent, everyone looking at Cole

"I've seen you so many times but every time i see you, your adorable face makes my heart flutter like I'm seeing you for the very first time. The first time i saw you two years ago, i was taken aback by your beauty. I had to go through a lot to stand where i am right now with you and i think now it's finally time for me to say this" Cole says taking a deep breath

He pulls out a box from the back of his pocket and the crowd gasps

"Will you start a new life with me?" He says and everyone in the crowd chants the word I don't want to hear

"SAY YES" they say and i close my eyes as i grow nervous and my hand starts to shake

I look at my ring finger that still holds my ring from when Nicholas gave it to me and tears well up in my eyes

I can't believe he left me for his selfish reasons but then again, he didn't have a reason to stay. It was high time i came out of my fantasy and faced reality

Cole is my reality right now.

I take a deep breath as i turn my hand around and slip down Nicholas's ring halfway through my finger

My hand stops then and there as images of all the moments i spent with Nicholas come rushing to me and suddenly everything around me seems to go by slow

"Why are you hesitating, take it off" I hear a familiar voice from the crowd and my eyes widen as i see across me

There he is, standing in the crowd with shiny bright eyes

Nicholas's POV
I walk through the crowd with utmost anger and by the time i reach the garden, my knuckles almost go white with all the fist clenching

I make my way through the crowd who's now chanting "say yes" and my heart sinks with every step i take towards her

As i reach the front, my eyes lit up with the scenario in front of me

She looks down to a kneeling Cole as she takes off the ring i had given to her. It might have been for a fake marriage, but my feelings for her weren't

I notice her hesitating to take it off completely and feel a wild rush in my heart

"why are you hesitant, take it off" i suddenly say and she stops to look at me

I look at her locking her eyes with mine and she stares at me stunned

Her face shows a lot of guilt but happiness at the same time. I can't understand her

"Isabella" Cole says to her and she looks at him then at our surroundings

She lastly looks at me. without breaking eye contact, she takes off my ring firmly holding onto it in her right hand

She gives her left hand to Cole who slips down a huge diamond ring in her ring finger and the crowd once again goes wild in celebration

I slump my shoulders in defeat as Cole hugs her and she hugs him back

At least someone's giving her what she deserves- i think as i turn around

I walk away from the crowd and look around clueless when a tear escapes my eye

I can't believe it. Why am i crying? What is wrong with me? Why does it hurt so much? I question my brain as i look at the sky and a star falls across the sky

I close my eyes as I desperately make a wish

I didn't believe in this, but as of this moment, I'll lean onto every single thing that changes the reality i just experienced

As i stop to listen to whats going on behind me, all i hear is happiness in the night that made me unhappy, for all this while i can only wonder that would would it be like, if this was our happy ending.
