"an old friend"

SEVERAL DAYS LATER, DAHLIA was in the middle of treating a whiny patient who had a few too many drinks the night before when Athena called for her over the intercom. As the AI's synthetic voice spoke around them, the patient sitting in front of Dahlia held his head and groaned. She mumbled a quiet apology, subtly rolling her eyes at the patient, then handed him a glass of water.

"Miss Blackrock, Sojourn has requested your presence in her office."

"Thank you, Athena," Dahlia said to the AI. She moved over to a cabinet filled with various medications, searching for something that would ease her patient's headache. "Did she say what it was for?"

    "Only that it was important."

"I'll head over as soon as I'm finished with this patient" A bottle of headache medicine in her hands, Dahlia moved back over to her groaning patient. She handed him the bottle, then said: "Unfortunately there isn't much more I can do for you besides advise you to get some rest and avoid drinking so much in the future."

Her patient popped three or four pills into his mouth, swallowing them dryly then wincing as if it brought him pain. "Sometimes you just gotta drink to forget," he said to her with a shrug. Dahlia pursed her lips. Usually, she'd take the time to talk to her patients, for she cared not only for their physical health, but their mental health too. Besides, it wasn't often that one of the agents acted kind towards her; the least she could do is return the favor. This time, however, she knew that she couldn't stay and chat. Sojourn was waiting for her, and Dahlia was undoubtedly curious to find out what the Captain wanted to speak with her about.

Saying goodbye to the hungover agent (and reminding him once again to get plenty of rest in order to relieve himself of the symptoms) Dahlia left the medbay. Dr. Ziegler was elsewhere, doing who knows what, after Dahlia assured her that she could handle the patient that had called the pair to the medbay. Knowing the doctor, she was busy doing research in the comfort of her own dorm; Dahlia didn't blame her, and although the medbay would be left unattended while she met with Sojourn, Athena was sure to let either woman know if there was a patient needing attention.

The halls were nearly empty as Dahlia made her way towards Sojourn's office. She knew that the majority of the agents were busy with their daily tasks while others were a part of a strike team sent to Germany in an attempt to scout out some possible Null Sector hubs. With numerous agents being gone, the base somehow felt almost barren.

Once Dahlia reached Sojourn's office, she knocked on the door three times. Muffled conversation that could be heard through the wooden surface told her that Sojourn was not alone inside the room. The voices died down, then a moment later a quiet "come in" met Dahlia's ears. Dahlia opened the door, stepping inside the office though freezing upon noticing who was sitting in the chair in front of Sojourn's desk.

It was a face that she had seen countless times- both in her past life as Dahlia and her current one as Vixen. Though it was a face that, until now, she had thought to be dead.

Ana Amari turned around in her chair as Dahlia entered the room, and her one good eye widened ever so slightly upon landing on the new arrival. Dahlia herself was speechless, as well, for she had been told several times by the Reaper himself that Ana Amari had been executed by one of Talon's best Assassins. And yet here she was, alive and well, as if she had never once even left Overwatch.

Sojourn's gaze drifted between Ana and Dahlia. It was obvious that the Captain didn't quite understand the immediate unspoken bond between the pair- one side being reunited with someone she had once considered a daughter, while the other struggling to make sense of all the familiar yet unknown memories of her past that had resurfaced at the sight of the living ghost.
