Aomine may have been an idiot in his highschool years. He may have made many mistakes.

But now, just after graduation and in university, staring down into his palm at the broken necklace and the hastily scribbled note, he felt like he had committed the greatest sin in the world.

The thing is though, he didn't know what he had done to drive his precious girlfriend away. In the dark of the night gripping on to the last pieces of you that he had left. His chest clenched imagining the words coming out if your mouth.

"I'm sorry I caused you trouble, please fulfil your dreams and forget about me"

How could he simply forget?! Slamming his fist into the wall, accidenlty hitting a picture and smashing the glass to tiny pieces, shimmering as they fell through the dark.

At 26, aomine had graduated and was in an apprenticeship in the specialist police force as well as an addition to the local services. He had gotten transferred back into tokyo for some stalking case. A young mother of one was being harassed some notorious gang members. The same gang that have had charges of kidnap and murder on them.

To add on, he had even been alerted on his radio, the subject he was newly assigned to had already raised the alarm. He was meant to go meet them tomorrow with a senior, officially.

Running to the place where the call had come from his eyes fell on a little kid running towards him.
"Quick! Help my mom!" The young boy with the dark hair had worry written all over his expression. Aomine's duty to serve and protect override the pang in his chest at the kid.
"Tell me where she is" he was stern and fierce. He took his job seriously.
"Round the corner" came his response. Off they went, Aomine was fast, but somehow that kid was keeping up to some extent.

"Don't you ever touch me or my son again!" You shouted, punching a guy in the face, his body fell to the ground amongst the others.
"Mom!" You heard the call of your son. With a sigh you looked to him, relieved that he was safe, only for your face to change to absolute shock once you saw who was infront of you. Way too close than you would want him to be...

"(N-Name)?" You ignored him and rushed past him to embrace your son, hugging Kai in your arms, he returned the gesture, happy you were safe.
"I'm fine, thank you officer" you answered coldly and with that you left, holding onto the hand of the little boy.
"Wanna go get some supper?" You asked with a forced smile to the worried boy.
"Yeah!"
As you walked away you felt compelled to look back, aomine stood with a face of no emotion. But it was painful for you. Why? You were over him. Right?

Tucking in the little monster to bed you saw that he didn't have a smile on his little face. You gave a grin as you started tickling him.
"Mom! Haha! Stop it!" He giggled with a bright smile. You ceased your little playful attack.
"That's what you get for staying out too late." You reminded.
"Sorry" he laid down in bed. You gave a big sigh laying down next to him.
"It's not safe at night anymore, just... be a bit careful and stay close to home yeah?"
"Ok, don't worry, even if those idiots come again. I'll beat them up!" You gave a chuckle.
"I've told you once and I'll tell you a hundred times more. Do not. Under any circumstance. Go near any one suspicious even if they seem friendly, don't talk to anyone. Only your friends at school"
"So I can't talk to anyone outside of school?" Kai whined.
"You can talk to grandma" you both started chuckling. Grandma was the nickname you gave to Kai's teddy bear, since his own grandma, your mother, had given it. Claiming it was your favourite even though you didn't really remember much about it.
"Night dear." You pecked his forehead and ruffled his hair.

Just as you were about to close the door you heard Kai's little voice.
"Mom, how did that man know your name?" You couldn't go back in to face him.
"I think he might have seen me somewhere else... Go to sleep now, good night" you clicked the door shut. You couldn't lie to your child...
