=Your POV=
The castle was under attack, the maids were mumbling something about this emperor who wanted total rulership over all the eastern lands. It was terrifying.

With the stormy rain beating down hard it was no wonder that the messenger had gotten lost, and had found himself in a bog pit. The message of attack didn't come at all. That was until the gates were forced open and the knights slaughtered.

I hid in a closet, a hidden closet within the maids chambers.
"Princess! You must leave now!" Hikaru, the king's-my father's most trusted noble man found me. We had a game where we would hide and go seek one another. This was my favourite spot.
"But father!! Where is father!"
"The king is engaged in battle! He gave me orders to see to your safety at any cost!" I could see the pained expression on his face as he tried to pry me from the small encasement. He never left father's side. He loved my father, just like all the kingdom did.
"I don't want to leave what if-"
"Princess! Please understand! The whole kingdom is under attack! The emperor will imprison-or even worse kill you!" Hikaru had desperation in his voice. I saw a couple of the maids wondering around aimlessly. The others went to protect the queen. The sleeping queen. My mother had been put under a sleeping spell till the healers could find a cure for her illness.

"I will come back, tomorrow! I will!" I said, getting out myself and gathering my things quickly in a bag. Loud thuds and shouting came from behind the door. The whinnying of strained horses flooded in through the window. How many more were coming?
"Retrieve the princess!" We heard.
"Quick princess! Go!" He urged. I felt a hand on my shoulder, the last maid. Kimiko had a worried expression, she was hikaru's girlfriend. They shared a kiss before kimiko was made to take me through the secret passage, hikaru's stayed to fend off the guards. I watched, as I was dragged away, how they flooded in. How would he survive!?

I suddenly awoke with a cold sweat. My blond hair sticking to my forehead and my heart racing inside of my chest. What was I dreaming of? I would ask myself. I looked up to the thatched roof of our new house.
"Rise and shine pancake!" Kimiko was at the door, I looked to her smiling.
"I think I had a nightmare"
"Well, you look terrible. Go take a bath in the river while I make your breakfast." She said. I nodded, collecting my things.

I wondered out, we lived in a different place now. Inside the forbidden forest. On our travels kimiko and I ended up here, and got help from a witch to build our house, unknown to us then that this was the forbidden forest.

The thing is, I had found it wasn't all that dark and scary at all. There were folklores of terrible deaths and hideous creatures that lurked in the forest. The only real danger here was getting pricked by nettles or sat on by a cow. Which nearly happened one summer. There were seasonal wolves, though they only ever came out at night. I had never seen one, though I had become misfortunate enough to look into their glowing eyes, cornered as they growled and bared their fangs.

I rid of my clothes, lying them on the river bank as I slipped into the cool flowing water. Kimiko and I had been living here for 8 years, it was around the age of 10 I had left the castle... I was deemed forbidden to ever enter the village again. I constantly thought about wanting to go back, it was too dangerous though. People were rumoured to wander to the forbidden forest and emerge with curses and bouts of madness until they died in the most saddest of ways.

A breaking of twigs broke my concentration, I suddenly became alert.
"Who goes there!" I demanded.
"A traveler" I heard a confident voice speak out. A horse, as white as snow came riding out, it's owner looking to be a man.
"Leave, this is the forbidden forest. No mortals can leave here sane"
"You sound like a witch, are you threatening to take my sanity?" I looked up to gleaming red eyes, a golden tint in one of them and dazzling red hair under his hooded cloak.
"I am a mere human, bathing. Now leave me be" I turned my back on this man.
