A/n let's go on with the this so we can get to the good part.

Penelope pov

You have been weirdly quiet since she got back last night. But i'm happy that i finally got to meet Mark, he's a real peach and i can see that you two are the closest of everyone. His girlfriend Lexie is also really sweet.  But as we pull up to the house we're going to, I can't help but admire it, and wonder how they could afford it as everyone except the two of you are professors.

"How suprised do you think everyone's gonna be to see us?" you ask Mark as we walk up to the door.

"I don't know, very surprised i would guess. Let's just hope that dad won't create a scene about..." but your gaze stops him from saying what he was going to say. Why does your family hate you really? I know one part is that you didn't get into the same profession and that's why they don't like Mark either, but there is something else.

"Let's just get this over with" Emily says and her tone makes me wonder if she and Hotch had a fight or if she really doesn't want to be here. She knocks on the door and seconds later it opens by a woman.

"Hi, Mark, y/n. Didn't actually think you would come" her tone tells me that she really didn't, even though they had said they were coming.

"Hi Sarah, well i do still love my brother so i don't know why it's so surprising" Mark pulls lightly in your arm to stop you from saying more.

"I'm sorry, that's not what i meant... i"

"What she meant Sarah is that we're happy to be here" Mark corrects your words even though you both mean them.

"Well then, come in and we'll get you seated. We're about to serve lunch" Sarah says, moving out of the way for us to go in. The moment we got out into the garden you get pulled away by two women, Mark by an older man and Lexie by another woman. Emily pulls Aaron with her towards who seems to be the newly engaged couple. Leaving me alone with Jack.

"Aren't you Y/n's date?" he asks and this feels depressing.

"Yes, i am her plus one to this"

"Then how come you're standing here with me instead of with her"

"I wouldn't want to interrupt, they seem to be catching up" i say as i look over to you and the two other women laughing. "Plus, someone needs to look after you"

"I'm nine Penelope. So i'm gonna go play with the other children while you go and make small talk with her and get to know her family and friends" Jack says and hurries off towards the kids table. Am i really gonna listen to a nine year old? Apparently i am. So i walk up to you and into a conversation but you notice me before i can say anything.

"Girls, this is Penelope. She's my plus once since Lena had to work" you introduced me with an arm around my waist, making my heartbeat so much faster.

"Lovely to meet you. I'm Gael, Fredricks wife. He's one of the brothers that aren't that fond of Y/n" the brown haired woman says she shakes my hand. Everything about her right now is extra. I mean, hazel eyes, warm brown hair, sunkissed skin, her name. Like a character out of a story.

"I'm Jane, Robert's wife who's one that also isn't that fond of Y/n right now" the blond woman says and shakes my hand.

"Great to meet you as well" i answer as i don't even know what to say to that. Gael looks over my shoulder towards someone else before looking back at you.

"Your father is staring at you" she says and i haven't even met him yet but he gives me the creeps.

"Let him, i couldn't care less of what he thinks. He probably thinks that i'm cheating on Lena right now too" you say as you let go of the hand around my waist. The place where your arms were is now vulnerable to the cold.

"And now Thea is coming over here" Jane says, taking a sip of her champagne. "She has a train of people behind her. I think she's trying to steal Isabella's attention"

"Well since Isabella invited Emily i don't think that will be possible"

"Wait, they invited Emily?" Gael says in surprise.

"Yupp, look at them talking. Aaron and James are also talking, so i think that's the biggest spectacle today"

"And i who thought that was you" the voice of Thea is heard behind me and i would have thought that my finding out of her cheating would make her stay away.

"Nice to see you too Thea, i was just talking about last night" you say and panic strikes in her eyes. What happened last night when you went out? Thea takes a step to stand very close to you, but since i'm standing next to you i can hear what she says.

"You wouldn't do that to your brother" she says in a hushed voice.

"Test me" you answer in a voice that makes my heart skip a beat. "Now i suggest you leave me alone before i let it slip" now this feels like we're back in high school. Thea backs away and walks away with her little following.

"Okay, what is it that you know?" both Jane and Gael ask in union.

"Can't say, wouldn't want to create drama" but the three of us just look at you as you say that. "Besides, this is James and Isabella's party, let's go say hi Penelope" and with that you drag me with you towards the happy couple.
