10. The gate

While sailing on the small boat, close and tight. Robin stands up and waves to the group that we're leaving behind. "Miss you already!" Robin exclaimed waving at the Dustin. Dustin annoyed, sticks up his middle finger directing it to the five of us especially Robin.

After a short while Steve gets tired from rowing oars, so I offered to take over. While I'm strong enough to control the boat, I do have slight difficulty. Eddie generously takes one ore and we do one each

" wow, wow, wow, wow, slow down. Slow down guys" Nancy exaggerates as me and Eddie pause our rowing. We look over to her in confusion. She rests the compass down a little lower so that we can all see, it's going crazy flickering in every direction.
"Woah" Steve says being the first to show a response.

"Guys what's going on?" Dustin asks from walkie-talkie cerebro, they must've seen us stop and wondered what we were doing. "Come on guys talk to me what's going on?" Dustin chimes down the line again.

Robin picks up the cerebro ", Dustin, your compass has gone from wonky to wonky with a capital 'woaaaeh'" Robin exclaims trying to focus on the compass and the walkie-talkie at the same time. Nothing is sounded from the other side where Dustin, Lucas and max are.

Steve begins taking off his socks and scurrying around. "Steve, what are you doing?" Nancy asks at the boy who is beginning to remove his watch. " somebody's Gotta go down and check this out...Unless one of you four can top being a Hawkins swim co-captain and a certified lifeguard for three years, then..." Steve suggests before I cut him off.

" uhh yeah I can top that I was also the co-captain of the Hawkins-high swim team. And we both were lifeguards for nearly 3 years... plus I can hold my breath underwater for longer" i state pleased that I could top Steve and his ego.

"come with me then, but no one else. No complaints, alright?" Steve exclaims as he removes his jumper. And his shirt. I begin taking off my shirt leaving me in my bra and shorts. "Woah this isn't how i imagined that I first would see you with barely no clothes on" Eddie proclaims too loudly. "Ew gross, Steve can I complain now" Robin complaints.

" yeah I don't really wanna see that no offence Zee, you're my best friend and All but..." Steve sounds before I smack his arm. " well I don't want to see your pasty hairy chest, you look like the Gruffalo" I whisper shout under my breath.

"Well I'm not gonna complain, I do not want to go down there." Eddie breathes out as Nancy stares completely at Steve's shirtless body. I quickly nudge Robin who clocks on to what I'm looking at. She smiles at me and at Nancy before giggling under her Breath.

We wrap the flashlight inside a plastic bag so that it can be used underwater. Obviously it will not be very useful after a while but it's the best we've got. While doing so, I look over to where Dustin, Lucas and Max are. I can vaguely see max staring at us with her binoculars.

"Hey! Good luck runes" Eddie whispers handing me the wrapped up flashlight. "Thankyou!" I say kissing Eddie on the fore head. "Steve! Be careful" Nancy says from beside me as I plunge deep into the waters. Steve follows shortly behind me. We both swim directly downwards.

At the bottom of the lake, we see large skeletal bones from Dead Lake creatures. The sight sends a shiver down my already freezing back. I flash the light over the bones... but nothings there. I point my hand over to the right. But Steve isn't watching so I make grumbling noises to catch his attention.

He follows my lead towards the bright red light that comes from the a dip In the ground. We quickly swim over hoping not to loose our breaths. The red light is very clearly a gate... there's an opening it's yellow and orange plus it's glowing like the one I saw before.
