AMBER HARGREEVES. present day.
"you'll never live like common people, you'll never do whatever common people do, you'll never fail like common people."
THE BUS STOP IS DARK and practically abandoned, yet Diego kicks us out of the car without a second look, and I'm left staring at his car as it drives off down the road.
"So...what now?" I question Klaus as we were stranded by the side of the road and buses wouldn't be running until the morning.
"Hm." He spins around as if contemplating on where we should start. "Wanna go to a park?" He finally suggests after a long draw of silence.
"Okay, yeah...where's the park?"
"Um. Let's go left, or right."
"Split the difference?" We both resort to walking straight down the road until we find a big enough park for the two of us to relax in. At this hour there would be no children hanging around, so the two of us sat on the swings together.
Klaus lets his bag drop to the floor before he pulls out the joint he'd rolled when Diego and I were chatting outside of the car. He drags the lighter across it a couple of times before letting the tip burn, taking a quick inhale.
He doesn't cough, instead takes a few more inhales before handing it back to me for my turn, in which I repeat his motions. "Hey, y'know.." Klaus looks over at me as he begins swinging back and forth, the metal creaking. "I tried to conjure dad."
"Tried to, or did?" I cough into my palm through a deep exhale, handing the joint back to Klaus.
"Tried. I guess I have to be sober. But y'know, where's the fun in that?" Klaus pouts slightly.
"Where's the fun in talking to dad anyways, what do you want with him?"
"If what Luther said is true, y'know, what with his monocle missing?"
"You really think he could be murdered?"
"Maybe Pogo realised how much of a dick he was and finished him off himself."
The two of us look at one another and our serious expressions curve into giggles, leaning our head backs as the weed takes affect on us, switching the joint between the two of us.
"I wouldn't blame him, you get me? Putting up with dad for all those years..."
"Sure, me either." Klaus pauses. "We all left for a reason, y'know?"
"Where did you go when you left?"
"Hollywood." Klaus pushes his hands out into mini jazz hands with a short laugh.
"How did that work out for you?" I giggle, leaning my head into the chain rope that held one side of the swing up, gently swinging back and forth.
"It paid well, I guess. Enough to get me by, but it was weird, not having everyone with me."
"Yeah, I kinda get what you mean. I didn't use my powers for years, not since I left the academy. I've only used them once." I think back to Jeremy and begin to giggle, serotonin taking over my senses.
"We should like..get you trained up! Why don't we train, oh my gosh," Klaus giggles like he had an amazing idea, "like the old days when we were kids?!"
"It's weird how like..." I pause, losing my trail of thought.
"I know, right?" Klaus agrees anyways and the two of us begin creasing with laughter, leaning over with holds on our stomachs.
