Steve POV

I took a deep breath and knocked on Y/n's parents door, holding the small box in my hands, I quickly placed it in my packet as I watched her dad open the door and smile at me.

"Steve my boy! Come on in!" He stepped aside and led me inside, shutting the door behind me and following my into the kitchen. Her mom was baking some kind of cookie, they smelt amazing.

"Hi Mrs. Y/L/n." She turned and smiled.

"Oh hi sweetie!" She came over and gave me a hug, kissing cheek. I hugged her back lightly and sat at the kitchen table with her dad.

"So Steve, what brings you over today?" I looked at him and gulped a little, feeling my palms begin to sweat.

"I had a question for the both of you." They both nodded at me, waiting for the question to be asked.

"Of course, what's that?" Her mom asked.

"As you know, Y/n and I have been together since our freshman year of high school, and I have fallen more in love with her as the days go on. Since we've moved in together, I haven't been able to get the thought of us spending forever together out of my mind..." I brought the box out of my pocket and opened it in front of them.

"I want your permission to ask Y/n to marry me." Her mom gasped and her dad smiled at me.

"Steve, it would be a pleasure to have you be my son in law." Her dad stood up and shook my hand. I smiled, standing and shaking his hand back. Her mom got up and ran over to me.

"Oh sweetie, you've been my son since I met you!" She gave me a hug in which I returned and I smiled to myself. Thank god they said ok.

I followed Y/n through the field that led us up the mountain, it had the most amazing views of Hawkins and the sun sets up here were unreal. We laid down a blanket and sat next to each other. She leaned against me and I wrapped my arm around her. She smelled so nice.

"This is so pretty." She smiled up at me, I leaned down and gave her a quick kiss.

"Not as pretty as you!" She lightly blushed and looked back at the golden sky, the sun hitting the town below at an angle that made it almost look nice, aside from the monsters and horrors.

She leaned forward and plucked a flower, smelling it and twirling it around in her fingers. This gave me just a moment to slip away from her side and prop myself on one knee behind her. I grabbed the ring box from my packet and held it in my hand.

"Y/n." She looked back and immediately her smile turned to shock.

"Steve." I smiled at her, and took her hand in my free one.

"Y/n, you are my best friend. You are the light of my life. You are the best part of my day. I have loved you since the moment my eyes met yours, and I cannot imagine my life without you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you..." I opened the ring box as her hand covered her mouth. She was a bit shaky, and she has tears streaming down her face.

"Will you do me the honor, and marry me?" She cried into her hand, while nodding.

"Of course I will marry you!" She said, she opened her left hand and I placed the ring on, it fit perfectly. She jumped for joy and right into my arms. I hugged her tightly, and we stayed like this for a while.

Soon we made it to the hotel I reserved for us. She had wandered to the bathroom while I made myself comfortable on her bed.
