YOUR POV

I have everything I have ever wanted. I'm engaged, I have a child, I have my dream job. Things really couldn't be going better for me. Although now I think about it, I'm pretty sure I'm only engaged because I have his kid, we're best friends who got drunk and had sex which resulted in Winnie.

- Winnie : Mom, when can I come to see your new work?

- y/n : Winnie I haven't even been there yet. Calm down

- Jack : Good morning

- Winnie : Morning Dad, Mom wouldn't let me make your coffee

- Jack : Come on Y/n, she's 7. She can make a coffee

- y/n : She's my only baby. I'm not letting her get hurt on my watch

- Jack : First day at the new job. Looking forward to it?

- y/n : I guess? I'll miss all my friends at Mass Gen

- Jack : But this is better pay and you get an office here. You didn't have an office before. You're closer to the station too

- y/n : You only like the fact I have an office so that when you visit we can have...adult time

Having a firefighter as fiancé is nerve-wracking. When your hear they're in the hospital you never know if it's with a patient or if it's because they got hurt.

- Jack : Alright, I'm off to work. Bye Win, bye babe. Remember it's a day off at school

- y/n : What? Is that true Winnie?

- Winnie : Yeah. Can I come to work with you now?

- y/n : You're going to have to. I have to be there in...fifteen minutes. It's breakfast on the go this morning baby. Come on. Grab your bag, your guitar is in the car. Let's go

If Jack had taken Winnie to the station with him it would've been so much easier. Everyone at the station loves Winnie, especially Andy and Vic. They are basically her personal fangirls. You should see the sidelines at sports day or the audience at performances, it's filled with Jack's friends from the station. They're so great to me and Winnie. They're family.

- Bailey : Doctor Jones. You're late

- y/n : Sorry Doctor Bailey. The school is shut and I didn't realise the time. It won't happen again

- Bailey : And this is?

- Winnie : My name is Winnifred Harper Gibson-Jones but my Mom and Dad call me Winnie. I'm 7 years old. I was born on the 16th of November which makes me a Sagittarius and-

- y/n : Winnie, I love you so much but Doctor Bailey needs to tell me where to go

- Winnie : Ugh okay. I'll be sat over here if you need me

- Bailey : That's one smart, sassy little girl you've got there

I've heard this a lot. We homeschooled Winnie for a few years until I couldn't teach her anymore. I had taught her everything I knew, that's when we signed her up for school. Well, that was a rollercoaster. I always new there was something different about Winnie, she never wanted to read and it was almost like she couldn't. When she went to school she got tested for Dyslexia. That's why she was struggling to read. She's thriving now.

- y/n : Yeah. She's smart and sassy alright

- Bailey : Okay so your office on the second floor, next to the blue light room. Everything you need is in there. Your office is also next to Doctor Shepherd's office, she's the news of neuro, a very nice woman. We'll start putting you on the surgical rota as from next Monday

- y/n : Quick question, is it okay for Winnie to hang out around here? At Mass Gen they didn't mind but my fiancé is a firefighter and isn't always at the station when Winnie gets there

- Bailey : That's fine. My husband is a fightfighter at Station 19 so I understand

- y/n : What a small world. I presume you're Ben's wife?

- Bailey : Yes. You're Gibson's fiancé? Well I wasn't expecting that. Now I put the pieces together it's obvious. Well, welcome to the team Doctor Jones

- y/n : Glad to be here Doctor Bailey. Come on Winnie, let's go find my office.

Winnie is a girl of many talents. She's athletic and musical. She plays guitar and does ballet. It means I have to do a lot of running around getting her to places but it's what she wants to do. I won't stop her.

- Winnie : There it is. That's your office

- y/n : Yep. Let me unlock it so I can get your guitar in there

- Winnie : Am I allowed to play guitar in the hospital?

- y/n : I mean we're not extremely close to patients but if someone complains then you'll have to stop

- Winnie : Okay. Dad printed off a new music sheet for me to learn

- y/n : What song?

- Winnie : Nothing Else Matters

- y/n : Honestly I question your father's choices sometimes. Since when is hard rock music appropriate for a 7 year old

- Winnie : It's a good song

- y/n : I know it is. I listen to that album whenever you're not around

I wouldn't say I'm an overbearing mother. I have a smart child and she's my only child. I have to look after her the way I think I should. There's no handbook on how to look after your children which everyone accepts. Everyone has different methods of parenting

- Meredith : Hello? Doctor Bailey told me to come see you

- Winnie : Mom? There's a lady here

- y/n : I see that Wins. Hi, I'm Y/n

- Meredith : Yeah, Jones. I'm Meredith Grey, I'm the Head of General surgery. Bailey said your daughter is the same age as my daughter Ellis. I'm having a party tonight, a load of the doctors are coming and it'll give your daughter a chance to meet other kids

- y/n : Yeah. Is it okay is my fiancé comes?

- Meredith : Yeah, no problem. I'll introduce you to everyone when you get there

- y/n : Okay. Oh and this is Winnie

- Meredith : Hi Winnie

- Winnie : Hello Meredith

I'm settling in. It'll be okay once I get to know people.
