I watched you dance on angel wings
And spread your feathers white
In your world of all-time spring
There's no winter, no cold night.
Eyes of blue and hair like snow
Smiles likes sunshine and of light
Little ribbons and a bow
Makes all of you a pretty sight
Now I you know what love can bring
And how a mother finds her way
Between two worlds of good and sin
And why I always kneel to pray.
For nothing more I wish and ask
That God protects you from the stings
That you fulfil your worldly task.
And find what love can bring.
Now you're mine to have and hold
And always treasure in my heart
Before too long your wings unfold
A new life for you to start
With new horizons and rainbows bright
A handsome man to share your light
May children's laughter fill your home
And you never be alone
Then you will know what love means then
And how a mother finds her way
Between two worlds of good and sin
And why I always kneel to pray.
For nothing more we wish and ask
That God protects you from the stings
That you fulfil your worldly task.
And find what everlasting love can bring.
When you can too watch children play
And maybe see me in their eyes
When I'm long gone, and you will stay.
To teach them about the dragonflies
