The Sale

You sold me a promise of love everlasting

I bought it all without ever asking

For a warrantee, a guarantee of faulty return

Whoever though that something like this would burn

The sole from your insides, the dreams from your heart?

That this was all fake from ending and start

You sold me the fairy tale, I swallowed it whole

The price that I paid was way more than gold

The best years of my life, my dreams, my desires

Got burnt in your lies and shadows for hire

After 12 years I still didn't know you at all

As I begged for something before, I stumble and fall

You talked a good game, but I learnt the signs

That gave you away oh so many times

Half-truths and omissions that fell from your lips

About where you were, those many trips

Yes, you sold me the package that was a glorious gift

The world never saw as your back turned and you left

from our bed, from our home, from caring at all

They saw the man that stood with valor so tall

You sold me a love that I've prayed for to God

I wrote Him a list, no way it could be flawed

No more loneliness no more rolling dice

You sold me my own heart and my future the price.
