Chapter 29

Avery's POV

It's was Late at night I was laying in bed with Alexia sound asleep next to me unable to sleep I got out of bed and decided to go to the kitchen for a snack. I made my way to the kitchen and as I was about the open the refrigerator I noticed someone standing outside on the porch. I went outside only to see that it was Aron. "Hey it's pretty late I'm surprised to see you up" I said "yeah I can't sleep" he said I sighed and went to stand next to him "same here I replied as we both looked at the moon in the sky. "So what's on your mind" I asked he sighed "did you know that There was 3 of us" he said I looked at him shocked. "No i had no idea" I replied.

"Yeah we had a sister her name was Nila" he said before taking a breath while still looking at the sky.

"My sister had this boyfriend named Ben he was good friends with me and Nate because we all went to the same school we were in all the same classes and everything. One night he came over our house to play video games because my dad wasn't home and neither was my mother. when he came over he seemed different, he was sweating a lot and was paler then usual he didn't look to good and we asked if he was ok but he insisted that he was fine so we took his word for it a few seconds into playing this racing game my brother had just bought he said he needed to use the bathroom and he went off to do so. So me and Nate continued to play the game that was until we heard our sister screaming so we both immediately dropped our controllers and ran upstairs to see what was wrong but when we got to her room..." he said pausing I could see tears welling up in his eyes.

"She-she was laid out in her bed covered in a pool of her own blood and Ben...Ben was in the corner covered in her blood it was all over his mouth he had been drinking it I was in shock as Nate charged at him but Ben got away he jumped out of the window before Nate could grab him Ben was a vampire" he said looking at me.

I understand now I know why Nate and Aron have so much hate towards vampires I thought to myself as I looked at him.

"I still remember the look my parents gave me see I was next up for Alpha and I should've been able to sense that he was a vampire but I couldn't my dad blamed me for her death and gave my title to Nate I don't blame them though it was my fault I should've been able to see but I was blinded and it cost me my sister" he said I looked at him sympathetically.

"I am so sorry" I said

"It was years ago but it still hurts" he said I sighed and put an hand on his shoulder. "I will protect this pack with my life and if it comes down to it and those vampires turn on me please believe I will have a plan" I said he nodded and I patted his shoulder, "get some sleep Aron" I said before going back into the house.
