Standing in front of Lillian, helmet in hand, there was only thing Kara could even contemplate doing. There was no doubt in her mind as she secured Lillian's device around her head, that her daughter's safety was her main priority. She didn't need anything else in her life besides her family. No amount of money could ever replace what she was about to give up, but her child's life was more important than the temporary loss of her powers.
Taking a deep breath in, she started. Pushing every ounce of energy she had out and into the glasses-like helmet Lillian had given her. With each passing second, she felt herself growing weaker until she collapsed, knees weak from the force of Earth's gravity on her de-energized body. When the last pulse of energy left her eyes, Lillian removed the helmet from her head.
"Get up."
As soon as her vision stopped spinning, she picked herself up. Looking at the woman in front of her, all she saw was the woman who had stolen everything from her. Her peace, her powers, and most importantly, her daughters. "Take me to my daughter, please," the superhero begged.
Lillian gave a small laugh. It sounded nothing like the one she was used to hearing. It seemed different. Deeper, more maniacal, less sane.
Something was wrong with it, Kara couldn't put her finger on what it was exactly, but she knew she didn't like it. Not one bit.
"Do as you're told. You're lucky I haven't killed you yet." Lillian added, grabbing onto the younger blonde's wrist and leading her away.
They walked until they approached a small white van. Sitting in the van was a young woman, she appeared too young to be driving the vehicle, but Kara knew looks could be a deceiving thing.
"Your daughter's just inside there." Lillian unlocked the door and pushed Kara inside.
"Goodbye, Kara Danvers. I'm sure we'll have plenty of time to talk later when your daughter recovers," she added, closing the van's door before Kara could acknowledge her statement. Seconds after the door shut, Kara felt the van pulling off. She sat for a minute, processing everything that had just happened until she heard the soft whimpers coming from a corner of the van. Following the sound, she found herself standing in front of a bassinet, where her daughter lay. For a minute, she stood, watching the toddler fuss before picking her up and rocking the infant back to sleep.
Just like her sister, Lori had green eyes, but only hers had specks of blue around the edges. But unlike her sister Lori had tufts of dark brown hair in the center of her head. Kara couldn't help but notice how closely her daughters resembled Lena.
The thought instantly brought a smile to the Kryptonian's face.
The blonde had no idea how long she spent trapped in the back of the van but soon enough it came to an abrupt stop, jolting both her and her daughter's body, waking the infant from her nap.
After lulling her daughter, Kara got out of the van with Lori tucked safely in her arms. Looking around the area, she quickly realised she was outside Lena's apartment. After a moment's hesitation, she made her way inside the building. Even with her daughter in her arms, Kara breezed through security and rode the elevator up to Lena's penthouse.
She tried her hardest not to make much noise as she walked the halls of the apartment. Even without her super-hearing, it was obvious to her that not only were Lena and Leigh home, but they were both sleeping. Which wasn't customary for the brunette CEO, who typically would be in her office around this time, even on Sundays.
Unfortunately, or rather fortunately for Lena, Kara's uncoordinated movement woke her from her far from peaceful nap. At first, Lena was surprised to see the blonde standing in her room, but soon her surprise quickly turned to concern when she noticed that Kara's hands trembled as she held their daughter.
"Kara." Her voice cracked as she rushed from her spot to the blonde standing at the foot of her bed.
"Lee, I'm okay." It didn't take a superhero to see through the Kryptonian's lie, let alone her best friend of 5 years.
"I'm calling Alex." Lena had never seen the blonde this out of it before.
