The walk to the next ward is quiet. The mention of Bea had a surprisingly negative affect on my mood. Even if it was to say he apologized, as immature as it sounded, I didn't want to hear it from him. Or hear anything from him at all.
Elijah gently nudges my shoulder. "Are you alright? You seem distant." He sounds genuinely concerned.
I sigh. "Did you hear any of our conversation?"
"I heard mention of someone named Bea."
"That's all you need to know, really. A little while ago, there was an incident where he attempted to... Attack me. I guess it affected me more than I thought it would."
Elijah's eyes widen imperceptibly. "How awful... I'm glad you are alright." His expression softens as he speaks, giving my shoulder a comforting pat, before pulling his hand back.
"So am I." I say, before turning into the Pomefiore common room. Elijah moves to a point against the wall, as he had been doing.
Finding the trio of patients in this wing took no time at all, as Rook practically manifested as soon as I started to look for them. He lead me to their table with a theatrical grace, greeting me eagerly as he did. "Mon ami! Comment allez-vous, mon charmant docteur?"
I chuckle softly, understanding only parts of what he was asking. "I've been good, thankyou Rook."
He laughs loudly, hand resting on the small of my back as he leads me to the table with the others.
Epel waves enthusiastically at you, before earning a glare from Vil, causing him to calm down.
"It took you a while to get to us today." Vil says, posture poised and calm as he regards you with a suspicious gaze.
You settle in next to Epel, as Rook sits next to Vil. "It's been kinda busy today, I've been given a new worker to train, so I've taken extra time to make sure he knows his way around."
Vil looks towards Elijah, who's absentmindedly writing in his notebook. He glances up, offering a small wave, before going back to his book.
"His name's Elijah. If he gets used to the job, you might see him around more often."
"... His outfit is horribly monochrome." Vil says with a disdainful frown.
Rook chuckles softly. "Perhaps he needs some notes from you, Roi Du Poison."
"Hm." Vil taps his fingers against his table.
Epel turns to you. "How have you been, Doctor?" He says, hiding his accent while Vil was around.
"I've been good" I smile, before pulling out my clipboard and starting the session with them.
Vil was just as poised as usual, subtly insulting the place he's in and then loudly comparing the new soap in the bathrooms to cow shit.
Epel and Rook had similar complaints, that the blankets in their rooms were too thin, that their rooms got freezing during the night. I'll have to run that through Kira, hopefully we can get them some new ones.
"... Alright, one more thing before I have to go. Have you guys seen anyone with medical equipment around the asylum, or maybe just a loose piece of equipment? Like, a scalpel, scissors, a stray pair of pliers?"
"Oh, mon dieu... No, I'm afraid I haven't" Rook says with a concerned face.
Vil looks unimpressed. "Have the medics lost something? How unprofessional."
"Eh, sorry doc. Haven't seen anything." Epel shrugs, causing Vil's brows to furrow.
I stand up, Epel giving my hand a quick squeeze as I go. "Alright, that's all I have time for today. I'll see you guys again soon." I smile politely.
Vil regards me neutrally. "I suppose so. Farewell Doctor."
And Rook? "Au revoir, mon ami! Until we meet again!" He cheers with a smile, causing you to chuckle softly.
"Have a good rest of your day." I say, before walking out of the room, once again, with Elijah following behind me.
