paralyzed by JAMIE BOWER"So, uh...", Matilda mumbled, rearranging her position, "are we just gonna stay here, like, forever?" Eddie snorted quietly, not attempting to pull the tarp away or moving in any other direction. He had already turned on his back and closed his eyes, probably ready to take a nap.
"You know, with the entirety of Hawkins out there looking for me, I am considering it." Matilda chuckled lightly and shook her head before sitting up. The tarp fell off and revealed that it had gotten darker again, making the process of leaving the boat without fear of being seen slightly easier.
"Well, I don't plan on spending my possibly last days as a free woman under a piece of plastic inside of a stinky boat", she mumbled, awkwardly climbing out of said stinky boat. Eddie sat up too, not looking too happy about her decision.
"But it was kind of comfortable under there, wasn't it?" Matilda raised her brows and looked him dead in the eye.
"Are you kidding me? I was laying on a piece of glass. Or plastic. Or a fishing hook. Whatever your good old Rick had stored in there is now imprinted on my back." Eddie looked around and then held something up.
"It was actually a piece of... Uhm, some tool, maybe?" He eyed the broken off piece of metal closely, unable to figure out what it used to be. Or belong to. Matilda chuckled, making a disbelieving face.
"You're a DM, right? Shouldn't you know something about weaponry?" Eddie looked up, his eyes revealing shock and surprise combined into one glare.
"You know D&D?" Matilda shrugged and sat down on an empty bucket a few feet away from the boat. It wasn't exactly more comfortable, but it brought some space in between them which she had craved for the past few hours. Minutes. However long it had been.
"A little. I mean, a friend of mine used to play, but I wasn't part of the group. Sometimes he told me about tricks, new details about his character or new stories his DM came up with. It sounded like fun." Eddie grinned widely and nodded.
"It's great. You should give it a real chance, maybe you'll find a new hobby." He winked and Matilda rolled her eyes with a smile.
"Yeah, right, I'll just found my own club in jail." Eddie's expression faltered.
"You are not going to jail."
"Right", Matilda muttered. Eddie sighed and turned his head toward the lake again, seemingly thrown back into his current situation. Matilda rubbed her face, realizing this probably hadn't been the best topic change.
"Eddie, I'm sorry. I just— It's just, I can't ignore what happened. I can't act like— like there isn't some weird magic wizard thing going around killing people."
