"Eddie? Matilda? Guys, come on, are you there?" Matilda snapped awake and grabbed the next best thing she found to defend herself against the intruder. It was dark, though the clock on the wall told her it was almost early in the morning.

"Jesus Christ, Dustin, what?", Eddie groaned next to her and when Matilda turned around she saw that he was talking to the Walkie Talkie. She took a relieved breath and put the metal spoon back on her bedside table. "You good?", Eddie asked her to which she only responded with a tight nod.

"We got some news", Dustin stated and they heard the sound of a creaking sofa.
"Good or bad?", Matilda mumbled, trying to rub the sleepiness away from her eyes.
"Eh, neither? Both?", Dustin muttered, seemingly unable to collect his thoughts.

"Okay, whatever, just tell us", Eddie urged him. Matilda subconsciously leaned on his shoulder because she wasn't sure if she would be able to keep herself sitting up. She felt like she might fall back asleep at any given moment. Eddie didn't seem to mind. Actually, he adjusted his position to make it more comfortable for the both of them.

"Okay, so... The sirens we heard a few days ago, you know, when we left? We were right, there was another murder. A guy from Hawkins High, Nancy knew him." Matilda and Eddie shared a reserved look. She wasn't sure what they were communicating, but it felt like they were on the same page about how shit this was.

"So, we started investigating and there are a couple things that seem alarming. First of all, there is this guy, his name is Viktor Creel and, apparently, a demon killed his entire family about 50 years ago. We're thinking that Vecna might be behind that as well, so we're kind of following that lead right now." Dustin stopped and for a few seconds it was quiet. Eddie looked back and forth between Matilda and the Walkie, trying to confirm that she was as confused as him.

     "Okay, and?"
     "And, what?"
"You said you had good and bad news. What are the good news?" Dustin sighed heavily.

"I said the news were neither good or bad. And even if they were good and bad, those would have been the good ones." Eddie rubbed his face and slammed his fist on the bed, trying to keep it together.
     "Great. That's just... Great."
"I know, believe me, I don't like it either. Uhm, so, we also figured out that both Chrissy and Fred were seeing the shrink at Hawkins High and, surprise surprise, had the same symptoms before they, uh, cracked."

"Holy shit", Eddie mumbled, sitting up against the bed frame as an attempt to stay alert. Matilda gulped but didn't say anything.
"Yeah, that wasn't even the bad part. Turns out Max has the same symptoms and started seeing things. Doesn't look good." Dustin's voice was thin and sharp, which was a weird combination but embodied exactly what Matilda felt when her stomach dropped. She slowly looked up at Eddie who was staring at the opposite wall in shock, unable to respond.
