one more hour by TAME IMPALA

"Hey, is it just me or has Henderson severely picked up the pace over the last hour?", Matilda asked, panting as she stepped over a particularly huge root. Eddie chuckled and tried to shrug as he walked/jogged, which made him look like a gummy figure.

"Nah, you're definitely right", Steve muttered from behind them and grabbed Matilda's shoulder instantly as she was about to trip over something. "Watch out."

"Sorry. I mean, thanks." Steve just nodded and took his hand away again. Matilda noticed Eddie's raised brows, but ignored it.

"For the love of god, Dustin, can you slow down?", Robin exclaimed even further behind them, currently helping Nancy over a fallen over tree. Dustin abruptly stopped, almost causing Matilda to run Eddie over and looked at his compass.

"Something's happening", he whispered excitedly and went on again, leaving almost no room for the others to catch up. "I think we're getting close!", he yelled, slightly turning his head to the others.

A second later he abruptly stopped again, this time only kept from falling by Eddie's grip on his shoulder.

"Watch your step, big guy."

"Oh, man", Steve mumbled as he reached them, saying out loud what Matilda thought too. "You gotta be shitting me."

"Yeah", Eddie muttered, apologetically looking at Matilda, "I thought these woods were familiar." Nancy and Robin arrived behind them and Robin immediately sighed.

"Lover's Lake", she remarked.

"This is... confounding", Dustin spoke, seeming confused and a little underwhelmed at the same time. He'd probably hoped for a hidden cave or a secret glade.

"There's a gate in Lover's Lake?", Max asked. Nancy shook her head, but not as a way of declining, but to show her own confusion.

"Whenever the Demogorgon attacked, it always left an opening. Maybe Vecna's the same way." She looked to Dustin for confirmation, but he didn't seem like he quite caught what was going on. Steve scoffed annoyed.

"Yeah, only one way to find out." Matilda and Eddie shared a glance and nodded. They knew their boat had to be somewhere around here and even though neither of them really felt up to the challenge, they were glad to be able to provide something useful.

"I think our boat is a little bit, uh, that way", she mumbled, pointing to their right. In the distance they could see a dark something on the shore, supposedly what they were looking for.

"Right. Well, isn't that a helpful coincidence", Steve remarked sarcastically, earning a gentle nudge from Robin in response. He glanced at her, immediately looking less likely to make another snarky comment. Matilda sighed and gestured the others to follow her. She felt Eddie nudging her hand here and there, reminding her that he was there too. That she wasn't the only freak right now.
