Chapter Sixteen: Gengar's Curse?!

[Cerise Laboratory - Inside]

Cosmo, Buddy, Beau, Cerise, Yamper, and Ren went into the Main Room just as Gengar left.

Yamper barks a few times announcing their presence.

"Gible." Buddy is on the ground.
"Eevee." Beau is on the ground.

"Looks like it made another huge mess..." Cerise said.

"Don't worry, Ren. It's gone now." Cosmo told him. He sweat-drops when he saw Ren crying tears.

"Let's all clean it up." Cerise said, walking into the room.

"Sure." Everyone said, and starts cleaning up.

Gengar is revealed to be hiding inside of Ash's shadow.

"Sheesh... What does that Gengar want to do?" Ren asked, arranging the books.
"Does it show up for some specific reason?" Chrysa asked, picking up a small vase.
"Or is it just here to have fun haunting people?" Cosmo asked, picking up some of the files.

"Actually, the person who showed me this building told me..." Cerise said, walking towards the three. "That it was a nasty workplace." He revealed.

"It was a nest of Onix?!" Ash asked, his eyes sparkling.
"A nasty work place." Goh corrected.

After everyone is done cleaning up, they all sat around the coffee table.

Cosmo is sitting next to Cerise.
Both Buddy and Beau were on the coffee table.

"He said that, whenever people came by, poltergeist activity would occur." Cerise revealed. "I'm sure Gengar living here even back then." He said, folding his arms.

"What?!" Ren exclaimed. "Why would you make a place like that into your institute?!"

"Well..." Cerise said, he starts rubbing the back of his head. "I figured having things fall over, the electricity cut out and doors opening on their own would be fun." He explained.

Papers would occasionally fall.
The lights would suddenly went out.
The door would keep opening and closing on its own.
All of which are the works of Gengar.

"It always settled down quick, so I figured it would be all right!" Cerise said, drinking his tea.

Cosmo, Ren and Chrysa were a bit weirded out, but they did not show it.

"Dad, I don't think that's normal..." Cosmo said, sweat-dropping.
"Gible..." Buddy agrees, sweat-dropping.
"Eevee..." Beau agrees, sweat-dropping.

"That's our professor..." Chrysa said.

"Maybe Gengar gave up because its tricks didn't work on Professor Cerise." Goh said.
"Scor?" Scorbunny looks at Goh.

"Then why did it start causing trouble again?" Ash asked, looking at Goh.

"That's the rub!" Goh said. "First, Ren and Magnemite were attacked in the basement. Which means..." He trailed off looking at him.

"What? It's my fault?!" Ren asked.

"That could be part of it, but... There's us, Ash, Goh, and all the new Pokémon..." Chrysa said. "It might not like that things have gotten so lively." She explained.

"That must be it." Cosmo said.

"Yeah! That's gotta be it!" Ren said, rubbing his arms.

Ash shivers a bit, rubbing his arms.

"Ash?" Goh asked, seeing him.

"I feel a chill..." Ash said.

"What if you've been cursed by Gengar?" Goh said.
